With it being a spin-off featuring lesser-known mutants, I wonder if they'll be a tad more adventurous with the costumes?

I was never a fan of the Starjammers or Shi'ar. Those were the stories I always kinda just flipped through and hoped for the next month's issue to go back to something else.

The fault is not in our stars, but in our producers.

I've always felt the same way, to some degree, but they played a big part in the Dark Phoenix Saga, so I'm just pointing out that Fox could go more galactic if they wanted to.

What? Because Sunspot was in the future of DoFP? Remember the timeline was reset... so he's basically in the same spot Angel, Psylocke, Jubilee, and I'm sure a few others are in now that their birthdates have also been altered from the timeline shift.

New Mutants Director Hints That Filming Starts Next May
Quote:
Despite the less than stellar reviews for and what can be considered disappointing numbers at the box office (crazy that $500 million could ever be disappointing) for X-Men: Apocalypse, Fox’s X-Men series is still one of the most lucrative film franchises in history. To date, Fox has released nine X-Men films consisting of two trilogies, Deadpool, and two Wolverine stand alone films. All in all, these films have totaled more than $4.37 billion at the worldwide box office — led of course by Deadpool‘s record breaking $782 million worldwide.

X-Men: Apocalypse earned just over $543 million worldwide — good for third best in the franchise — over $200 million less than X-Men: Days of Future Past. It certainly did not help Apocalypse that Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine was largely absent (except for a cameo) from the film. A 48% on Rotten Tomatoes is not a ringing endorsement either. Despite Apocalyspe‘s shortcomings, however, the future of the X-Men franchise is secure. We are just a few months away from Hugh Jackman’s final outing as Wolverine in the high anticipated Logan, Deadpool 2 is on the horizon, and an unnamed project will be entering production this spring. Well, that production may not be unnamed any longer.

Director Josh Boone, has hinted, though not completely confirmed, that his film, New Mutants, will begin production in May. If true, it is not all that surprising that New Mutants would be entering production shortly. It was reported very recently that 20th Century Fox had established production offices at MELS Studios in Montreal (the same studio that they filmed X-Men: Days of Future Past and X-Men: Apocalypse), for a movie set to start filming next May. Boone has now responded to that report, as you can see below:

While there have been reports of a follow-up to Apocalypse set in the ’90s, New Mutants has been in development for quite some time now – so it would makes sense for the latter to enter production first. New Mutants presents a great opportunity for Fox to introduce a whole crop of new heroes to the big screen and move on to a new era that does not include Hugh Jackman. Eight of the nine released X-Men films released thus far have featured Wolverine, with Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Storm appearing in several films as well. So, some new blood is not unwelcome.

Though it is rumored that Alexandra Shipp’s Storm could appear in New Mutants, the film is likely to feature lesser known mutants (at least to a general audience) like Cannonball, who it has been reported may be played by Nat Wolff. If New Mutants enters production in the next several months, it could be headed for one of several 2018 release dates Fox has blocked off for a Marvel/X-Men film.

What is more exciting, should Boone be confirming the start date, is that there will likely be a slew of news coming our way in the next several months regarding New Mutants – and that is always exciting for a film fan.

Well, aliens were basically hinted at in X-Men: Apocalypse.

Warlock is gonna look like the Transformers next to the actors.
He might be the Groot of the film.
He gets huge or gets sucked out of his power.
He has a backstory so i wonder if they gloss it over.

Well, with X-Men getting closer to introducing aliens into the franchise, hopefully it means we will see this guy soon...

Mojo would make a GREAT villain, gives some kinda connection with Warlock being from outer space and all...

Holy crap! I just found out that Lockheed will be in this movie. I've been waiting to see Lockheed for years. This pretty much confirms that aliens exist in the X-Men film universe.

Are the rumors of Anya Taylor Joy playing Magik true? I really hope they are.

Too bad we won't be seeing Kitty Pryde and Lockheed together in this. Oh well. Maybe they will explain that Lockheed once belong to Kitty Pryde, and will find a new X-Men owner in this film.

Ironically, Negasonic Teenage Warhead has been given a variant of Cannonball's powers.

I'm confused. What time period this is set in again? Setting this in the 80s or 90s doesn't make much sense. Because Professor X already has his young team with Cyclops and the gang. Also if they set this in modern day, then why is James McAvoy in this?
