The 2D is too cool but the 3D is definitely too warm. It would need new tinkering to be accurate. Usually you'd rather something be too cool rather than too warm, but I guess that's a personal thing. I know people who calibrated for 5500k because they like it.

The color timing of the 3D version makes the signature yellow rain coats of the Jurassic Park staffers orange, it's horrible.

The original color timing was warmer and I am sure that the actual 4k remaster without the 3D (you know darker etc.) and without DNR looks almost exactly like it did back in the 90s.
Nope. It's not really "debatable", since proof exists one way or another. The 2K disc is much closer to the original color timing, albeit with a slight magenta push. The 3D version, just like the 3D version of Top Gun, completely changes most of the colors as well as gamma to incorrect levels. (Says someone who's projected the original film several times.)

Have you an example of these proofs?

Meh, I still prefer the look of the 3D transfer. Neither is ideal but the 2D is too overprocessed. Universal got too happy with the dials, couldn't leave well enough alone.

The 3D Blu-ray is much closer to the original colours. So said William Sherak of StereoD, who supervised the 3D conversion of the film. The reason why it is not accurate is because digital grading and photochemical timing do not look the same. So there'll always be differences. Digital grading almost always feels fake and tacked on, rather than organic. The 3D version was based on a new 4K master from the original negative, which was then digitally graded to match the theatrical colour timing closely.

Haven't seen any indication of this anywhere, but hoping that the 2013 4K remaster makes it onto 4K UHD and 2D blu-ray next year for Jurassic Park's 25th anniversary.

This film needs a more modern 2D transfer.
I too hope for a UHD next year!

That is only UHD, we need new 4k remastered Full HD Blu-rays, like Universal did with Apollo 13 and Spartacus. Its a shame. :-(
