Just when you think Lionsgate is completely out of the catalog game, they come completely out of left field with a release like this. There are no new Halloween films coming out, yet here they are, bothering with a release that no one really wants for no particular reason. Well, for those folks who perhaps aren't diehard enough fans of box sets or just couldn't afford to grab it, this standalone release would make sense. But, out of those, how many people are dying to get their hands on an alternate cut of mediocre sequel to begin with?

Mediocre horror sells like hot cakes on Blu-ray. You only have to look at the boutique labels to see that. Back in the day, most of those horror films were considered junk. I don't think that about all of them but that was the popular opinion. Now it's like gold to a lot of collectors. With this being a film spawned from a name franchise, I'd predict it will sell rather well, especially since a lot of people still haven't seen this cut.

So I have the I guess you'd call it "Theatrical version" of Halloween 6 coming my way soon (ordered the Miramax triple pack that also comes with Halloween H2O and Resurrection).

I'm just wondering whether it's worth ordering the "Producers Cut" from Amazon or not?

I'm in Australia so this would set me back something around $24-25 AU dollars, which converts to about $17-18 US dollars.

Is it worth it? Or should I just be satisfied with the "normal" edition?

i think the producers cut is worth it, it's like watching a different storyline

Damn glad I picked this one up individually too. I think I have 2 copies...one with the vhs slip. Also, the theatrical cut blu-ray sells for a pretty penny too. Weirdly I don't see the new 4K (which includes both cuts) sold individually on Amazon. You have to buy the trilogy. But they do sell 4 and 5.

1-5 were released individually. 6-8 were only released as a collection.
