So far the Target site doesn't have an exclusive listing for season 2 as they did for season 1.

Too bad, woulda been nice to have a slippy to go next to Season 1.

Wonder what the day one price will be at retailers...Target did get a cartwheel coupon for season 1 which helped.

I don't have cable but blind bought the first season. Can someone tell me if the second season is as good or better than season one? Also is there a bit more action in total? Finally, thanks.

Is S2 better ? That's a difficult question as both seasons were excellent IMHO. S2 is definitely different, mainly in that there was more screen time devoted to character development.

Does S2 have more "action" ? I'd say no, there's slightly less, again due to the emphasis on character development. BUT ... when there is "action", you can rest assured all hell breaks loose !

Finally, Episode 3 of S2, 'The Nightcomers', is worth the price of admission alone. This episode truly defines Vanessa from past to present, and most importantly, for the future.

Midnight gives a pretty good rundown of my thoughts as well.

The only thing I would add, is that in Season One, I was intrigued with Dorian, and I feel like they really didn't utilize him in Season Two. They pretty much kept him off on his own thing until the end of the season - and then set him up for a big Season 3.

My favorite character, hands down, is Caliban/The Monster/John Claire. Rory Kinnear has some amazing scenes in this season, and I felt had the best performance. If Season 3 was nothing but the adventures of Caliban with interspersed conversations with Vanessa, I think it would be the best Season produced.

Thankfully, it looks like Target is doing collectible packaging for Penny Dreadful Season 2 after all, based off this image from the upcoming ad uploaded by dantheman89 in the Movie/TV Deals section:

I'm a bit disappointed that it's not continuing the tarot card theme started with season one, but at least we're getting something! I guess it's just based off whatever's the teaser poster for the season.

I'll be on vacation Tuesday, sadly (heh), so won't get to Target for this until Thursday. Wonder if they'll still have any. Since it doesn't match season one though I kind of don't care.
