The Harry Potters are in-store on BD (I saw them on the weekend at JB's). I heard that the other titles were delayed due to supply issues and their focus was on making sure that the Harry Potters were release on time (which they were - early in fact).

I broke down today, and ordered 2001 SpaceOD, Clockwork Orange, Blade Runner from Amazon. I am not interested in any of HP movies anyway. May get DH 4.0 if its available on a release date.
WB Australia can go and ef themselves.

Cheers

JBHIFI Today,

Bourke Street - Had the HP movies, and Die Hard 1-4
Lonsdale - Had the HP movies, but no Die Hard at all.

Ended up going to Highpoint and picking up Die Hard 4 there instead.

I also was waiting for Troy and The Aviator.... rocked up to JB last week on Wednesday and no sign of them. Pretty poor!

Hi guys,

Just chiming in with my 2 cents on this. I have seen all the Harry Potter films on the shelf at my local JB (bondi) all Blu-Ray with no sign of them on HD-DVD. Additionally there appears to be some confusion with what's been released on Blu-Ray vs HD-DVD, now I may be wrong, but it seems to me that none of the titles other than Harry Potter that were scheduled for release have come out on either format.

I have seen no sign of Troy, Aviator, any Kubricks etc on HD-DVD or Blu-Ray and I've been lead to believe that the "out of stock" status these HD-DVDs have on most online retailers is the exact same situation as the release date unknown for Blu-Ray. I get the impression locally that WB will not be releasing any titles on either format until they make an official announcement about the'r future release plans regarding format support.

No worries Zyclone, by the way, in case you missed my other post, I got my US PS3 and it works without a hitch, easy to set up just switch the cable that comes with it for a standard Aussie PC cable and you're off and racing.

I heartily recommend it, I've really been enjoying all the region A locked titles and there are some good deals on ebay. Let me know if you're interested and I'll PM you the name of the seller I bought mine off who was very reliable.

Sounds good Zyclone, make sure you get her to cut off the barcode from the box before she send you the PS3 so she can get the mail in rebate for you! She can get the free discs sent to her address in the US and then mail them to you down under when they arrive.

Guys, I just found this info on DVDbits.com :

"Warner Bros. HD Delays (HD News)

Last week was to see a large high definition release slate from Warner Brothers, including "2001: A Space Odyssey", "A Clockwork Orange", "The Shining", "Full Metal Jacket (Deluxe Edition)", "Eyes Wide Shut", "The Aviator", "The Song Remains The Same", "Alexander: Revisited", "Purple Rain", "Troy: Directors Cut", "Wyatt Earp", "Scooby Doo" and "Beerfest" on both Blu-ray and HD-DVD formats. However, the entire slate has been missing in action from retailers, and EzyDVD cryptically lists the Blu-ray versions of all items as 'release date unknown', and the HD-DVD items as 'out of stock'.

I called Warner Brothers today to get to the bottom of it, and was informed that all releases had been delayed until early 2008; a firm date TBA.

Whilst the Harry Potter Blu-ray and HD-DVDs are still on track for December 19th, unfortunately "Blade Runner: Final Cut" will also be delayed until early in the new year."

So as I suspected in my earlier post it appears that all the scheduled titles from Warner have been post-poned on both formats and not just Blu-Ray as some feared. This in fact could be a good sign, if Warner goes Blu exclusive it looks like those titles will never see the light of day on HD-DVD in Oz.
