Kids enjoy playing 4 player deathmatches all the time..the hanger map in particular. They don't play CTF.

Hell watching 32-player Warhawk CTF is boring.

Yeah it's getting pretty frustrating. I'd like to be able to play some multiplayer games with my friends offline (besides super stardust and blast factor) on my PS3.

And was looking forward to buying UT3 for that, when I found out that it had no offline multiplayer I was actually pretty pissed as that would have been a really cool game otherwise.

Very true. I accidentally left one of my PS3 controllers at my friend's house (who lives 30 minutes away) so I have a controller to use in the meantime.

Goldeneye > Halo

Nothing like having a few beers with friends over a game of Mario Kart 64 "prison rules" style... racing or battle mode... In battle mode, we have loads of fun watching guys trying to hunt others as the little bomb. Goodtimes.

This thread is more about asking for more multi-player games... it really has nothing to do with the PS3 coming with just one controller.

PS1, PS2, XBOX, XBOX 360, Gamecube and the Wii all come with only one controller, even though these game systems have more multi-player games than PS3.

I am in agreement with the thread. The shortage of enjoyable games for the PS3 may be the result of the lack of multi-player options on the games that are already out.

Ironically, most of the best PS3 games are single-player (Heavenly Sword, Ratchet & Clank, Uncharted, Assassin's Creed, etc.).

Unlike the 360, where people without a quick charge or play & charge kit are nuts, I've noticed the Sixaxis holds a charge a lot longer.

Well, the added advantage of using a standard usb cable port. [USB A to USB B]

Our freaking play + charge cable is < 2$.

There's several offline multiplayer games on PS3 that are decent:

Virtua Fighter 5 (Hello? Why not beat the snot out of your friends with the best fighter out?)
Virtua Tennis 3 (great multi player party game. Doubles anyone?
Fight Night: Round 3
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance
NBA 2K8 (2K7 too)
FIFA 08

I'm sure once more developers fully get their arms around the PS3's architecture, we'll see more splitscreen games. I'm sure people have run into framerate issues they couldn't resolve before launch dates.

Hopefully Haze will launch on time...

To answer the OP question. Get Calling All Cars. One of the best offline mp games.

That and Tekken...DR

I haven't read all the posts in this thread but I always have a 2nd controller fully charged just in case one goes down (in the heat of COD4 battle).

I would hate to have to sit on the floor 5 feet away from my 60" TV with my controller plugged in - that would suck.

You can buy a longer USB cable.
