Eh. At least it would work better as a remake than the first movie. Dream Warriors could be good with a bigger budget and allows some more flexibility for a screenwriter to be creative (new Warriors, modern culture update, hip music, etc). Unlike the original NOES that was a simple, gritty movie that left little room for flexibility.

I think this is the movie that got me to put 'Anything, Anything' on my MP3 player.. became a favorite tune of mine. I'm sure it was Dream Warriors, when the lead girl picked up the nun-chucks and started playing with them.
That was Part 4, not 3.

Imagine if there was some billionaire who happened to be a NOES superfan who decided to buy the rights to the series.

He says he's going to invest $100 million into the remake of Dream Warriors.

He's going to hire a talented A-list director.

He's going to make sure that they get a handful of top-shelf actors.

He's going to hire the best DP and the best special effects man that money can buy.

He's going to hire a really good writer to do the script.

He's going to insist that 70-80% of the special effects be traditional, in-camera effects.

He's going to insist to the writer and director that the film focus on story and character development that actually makes us care about the characters and actually focuses on important themes related to dreams and human psychology.

Now THAT could be one of the greatest movies of all time.

...unfortunately any remake will most likely do the complete opposite of everything I just said.

I don't understand this. You could do the exact opposite of every thing you said and it could be one of the greatest movies of all time. Having all the resources and hiring all A list talent does not automatically equate to a great movie.

If you have a good story, a good director, a good writer, good actors, good special effects people AND a big budget, then yeah, most of the time that's a recipe for something special.

...as opposed to a low-to-midlevel budget and a hack writer/director who don't know how to do anything other than generic, paint-by-numbers filmmaking.

The big budget goes toward attracting the top-level talent as much as it does the production itself.

Give me Freddy, give me dream powers, give me the good vs. evil fight and I'll be happy.

Dream Warriors hasn't aged well, it's kinda cringe worthy to watch now. This might be one of the extremely rare occasions where I think a remake could actually be better.

Then again I don't care for Dream Master, Dream Child, Freddy's Dead or the 2010 remake either.

I have been a huge fan of this franchise since I saw Nightmare 1 when I was 8. I had an idea for a reboot that I came up with shortly after seeing the 2010 remake.
I think a prequel should be done, but instead of a blood and guts slasher film, it should be a psychological thriller.

Hopefully, we're past the point of getting a hip-hop remix of Dream Warriors. So we'll probably get a dubstep version, which I suppose I could live with.

Dream Warriors is the last good film of the franchise and considered to be the best after the original by most diehard Nightmare fans, myself included. Then I would say Wes Craven's New Nightmare. Nightmare 2 is great as a stand alone film like Halloween 3.
