My neighbor uses the composite cable that came with it to hook up to a HDTV.

I've tried to "school" him on it but he says that one does the HD stuff.

So,.. Some people surely have the PS3 hooked up via composite but it's not likely they will be reading your post (if reading is something they do.)

i use a HDMI cable for mine, but an optical lead to my amp for the sound

I've purchased (5) HDMI 2M (6 Feet) Super High Resolution Cable for use with my PS3, Verizon HD DVR, and home theater system on Amazon.com. The seller is DVI Gear. I've been very impressed with the quality of the images.

I'm using hdmi monster cable for hook up to my tv and a monster optical cable to my amp. Need to upgrade to an amp with hdmi imputs for true audio sound.

I have the PS3 connected to my tv through HDMI for video, but for audio, I am currently using digital optical until I upgrade my receiver.
