My neighbor uses the composite cable that came with it to hook up to a HDTV.

I've tried to "school" him on it but he says that one does the HD stuff.

So,.. Some people surely have the PS3 hooked up via composite but it's not likely they will be reading your post (if reading is something they do.)

I've purchased (5) HDMI 2M (6 Feet) Super High Resolution Cable for use with my PS3, Verizon HD DVR, and home theater system on Amazon.com. The seller is DVI Gear. I've been very impressed with the quality of the images.

HDMI - $6 ebay gold plated no-name. No flaws at all.

Figured i'd risk throwing $6 away before spending the really big bucks for a big name brand.

I'm using hdmi monster cable for hook up to my tv and a monster optical cable to my amp. Need to upgrade to an amp with hdmi imputs for true audio sound.
