It is the first FF that I have never finished, and quit playing after 8 hours. Come on now, part of your battle system is to make automation even easier? All of those who I've talked to that were FF fans, have said the same thing minus 1. None of us will be getting FF13 as Squenix has stated this is their new battle system from here on out. I hate the new system so much, that if they put it in place of ATB during FF7/8 remakes, I will not buy them regardless of how great they once were. |

Get the PC version, as you can bump up the resolution for textures quite a bit more than the PS2 so it looks a lot better.

And yes it is a series, but it has shifted completely away from vital game mechanics that made it Final Fantasyish. Without Airships or Chocobo's, really 12 could have be titled completely different. I'm sure many people will enjoy it, but I really think the 'best' Final Fantasy's came out when it wasn't so main stream. |

![]() Actually FF12 is the first installment of Final Fantasy that is definitively set in an established FF universe (Ivalice). It revisits and defines more of the world set up by Final Fantasy Tactics. Nothing wrong if you don't like the game mechanics (I have some issues with them as well) but it's still very much a solid JRPG and a worthy entry in the Final Fantasy series. I happen to like the active battle system, since it's so very reminiscent of FF 11 Online (which I still play to this day). What really irked me more than anything else were the bland characterizations in the storyline, not the gameplay elements. |

I played FF11 for quite a while (as I loved MMO's, playing EQ for 4 years, FF11 for two years, and EQ2 for about a year), but I'm really getting bored of them. I finally canceled my last MMO account last week. Now a days MMO's are just all the same old thing rehashed in different packages. As far as the first one to take place in an established world, I think FFX-2 has that title being the first direct sequel set in a very established post-final summoning Spira. Also, the FFVII spin offs released came before 12, didn't they? |
