It's pretty simple actually. If you liked the old Peanuts cartoons, you'll like the movie. It's not really updated or modernized with topical humor or pop culture references(think the Shrek or Ice Age series) for the present day(well, aside from the computer animation). This is vintage Charlie Brown and Snoopy.

Not quite. This movie definitely relied on a lot of physical comedy more so than most early Peanuts stories. I felt the best early Peanuts stories worked for having a slow easy going true to life pace which I don't think the movie replicated very well

Everything else though yeah it was definitely true to the characters personalities and didn't throw in any modern pop culture BS which made it better than I was expecting

Maybe a little more physical comedy, but considering the most famous bit from the Peanuts is Lucy pulling the football away from Charlie Brown at the last second, I don't think that felt too out of place.

BTW, can someone explain to me how this movie cost about 100 mil to make? Computer animation shouldn't automatically mean a price tag of that amount, should it?

A huge chunk probably went into getting the Schulz family involved. And there were most likely some costly licensing fees.

Actually, that's cheap for a Hollywood CGI film. Pixar stuff is generally between $180 million - $200 million; Dreamworks seems to be more toward $150 million.

Yeah but with say The Good Dinosaur you can really see where that money went with its realistic backgrounds. The Peanuts movie doesn't really look beyond a ten year old animated movie. Which is fine it was clearly going for replicating the animation of the older shorts rather than anything realistic but it certainly doesn't look like 100 million was spent on the movie especially when you consider it was a 2k render

So yeah much of that money was probably a pay off to the Shultz Estate rather than spent on the animation

One question. How do we know it is the 4K UHD release? It only says Blu-ray. Maybe it will be changed later.

It is however the same release date as on Fox's own website, so it is probably the 4K UHD release that is on Amazon also.

I think he's assuming it's 4K because of the price.

I want this but don't know I wanna pay full price for it. I'll wait for the 4K to go down. I just hope it does...

Fox had already said that ALL new releases coming after the March 1st launch date will be in the 4k uhd format on disc from here on out.

Pick and choose wisely. There will be at least 150 uhd discs this year and up to 400 they said. It will get really expensive VERY fast if u jump on every disc that gets released.

100 uhd discs = $3000!

I'm sure it won't be every single Fox release (they still do some smaller films that might not make financial sense to release in UHD). I am hoping for all the blockbusters at a min.

I've read somewhere that 4K animated film at this moment is very challenging due to the huge computer memory required during production. I think Despicable Me 2 has used like 600TB (!). So the cost would be so high that a 4K animated film is not gonna happen now.
