Because Iron Man & Tropic Thunder were hits. He never really stopped making films... if you're going to count KKBB, then why not count The Singing Detective from 2003? Or A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints (2006)? The Shaggy Dog (2006) Or even better - Zodiac (2007).

i think his point was it SHOULD have been a hit like Iron Man and Tropic Thunder. its way better than TT and pretty much on par with Iron Man. nothing he had done for like 10 years up until KKBB was that noteworthy.
monetary success and good acting rarely go hand in hand.

Zodiac is noteworthy, but it came out 2 years after KKBB. I'm just saying KKBB was a great flick that had a terrific performance from the guy. And at the point in his life he had also kicked the drug habit. That's a comeback in my book.

I remember renting this movie earlier in the year and liking it. I will say it's definitely not like most of the movies I've seen before. Pretty nice price for it right now, but I unfortunately really can't get it right now with everything else I've bought and am getting the rest of the year. If it drops down again after the year is over, then I'll probably pick it up. I definitely want to see this again.

I'm sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I just can't avoid it after constantly seeing how lambasted the review was for this excellent movie. And while the extras are slim, having a full depth commentary track is worth a couple points alone.

Oh my goodness... andsoitgoes? Do you post on another forum that may or may not focus on iDevice gaming?

If you dont even know why you don't like a movie, then you shouldn't be reviewing it!
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is a modern classic, one of the best of the 2000s!

The bummer is that when it was initially announced, there was a featurette as well. Why it vanished between announcement and release is a mystery.

Love the movie! Robert Downey Jr was brilliant, and Val Kilmer also. I thought this movie more or less bought Downey to the notice of people again.

It tick me off that Shane Black didn't really get a boost from it. His next film was Iron Man 3 nearly a decade later.

Great movie and the last movie where Kilmer is any good imo

Then again Martin has a spotty review history, I rarely agree with him.

Anyway, I wish we could see a special edition for KKBB, with lossless sound and a documentary! Doubt it will happen though since such few people know about this movie. It's one of my favourites of all time!

I wonder what the reception would be if it had just beer released now, with RDJ being a major force, and Michelle Monaghan being well liked? I wonder if it might even be an award contender?

I adore the film.

A brilliant movie, it can't be said often enough. If you haven't seen it, you're in for a treat.

I watched it again recently and loved it. I thought to myself if there ever was a movie that needed a sequel it was this. I would love a part 2.

It's Michelle. Why is she disliked?

Yeah...

Bridgette Moynahan and Michelle Monaghan are the same woman...

I bet Tom could tell them apart...

Long Kiss Goodnight is one of my favorite movies but I didn't start to follow directors / writers until recently. I watched Nice Guys about a month ago and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang twice in the last two days. I loved it. There's a certain spazziness to the pace that Monaghan's character drives, but once you settle in it's an amazing ride. All three leads have big, rich characters that are funny and memorable and have great chemistry.

There were several laugh out loud moments like
[Show spoiler]punk rock Steven Seagal, peeing on the corpse, Harmony wanting to detour to warn Perry, the dog eating the finger, the grammar lessons, the roulette math, etc
.

There were some similarities with Black's other movies like the crotch gun (Long Kiss Goodnight), comments on grammar (and stuff, Nice Guy) etc. I'd love to see a triple feature with the three movies

5/5
