You'd still think they'd want it to succeed and it certainly could have. Westerns usually do well and this has a good cast. Portman could attract younger people who aren't generally into westerns.

Jane Got A Gun is getting an estimated 1,200 theaters this weekend. More than double the original estimate.

Sorry, but 50 Shades is a certified flop...that is the last for that series . Kung Fu Panda #1 but week, then Best Picture favorite The Revenant at #2, followed by The Force Awakens at #3.

Maybe as direct to video if they already started production on these.

I saw THE BOY.

I found it funny that besides Panda 3, the only thing selling out at my theater was Star Wars. Down to one screen and every seat was gone. Both the show when I got there and the one when I was leaving. Crazy.

Tell that to Bay's Transformers sequels.

The more accurate term would be the popular movies that are selling more tickets at the box office for that particular theater. Even good films with awards intentions might not have a long life in theaters because it just doesn't appeal as greatly as the mainstream ones, for better or worse.

Revenant is holding like crazy and TFA just won't go away. Revenant is looking like a $200 million grosser at this point. TFA will get closer than some thought to that magic billion dollar mark but Disney will have to pull all kinds of stunts to get there.

Kung Fu Panda 3 was fantastic, much better than 2 in my opinion. Don't care to see the other two, though The Finest Hours using Zella Day in the trailer made me consider it.
