Is the black level high or low the equivalent of PC vs Video levels?
In any case, if you see less clipped highlights that would be a better setting all else being equal.

If you open them in tabs and switch rapidly through them you can practically see them like a movie increasing the exposure.

Thanks to James Freeman for helping in getting these images made.
I've just been playing about with the settings on the Panasonic by eye and I've got to a point with ASM2 where I'm happy with the highlights...I come on here to double check and it looks exactly like the middle grab, with just the right amount of brightness and no severe clipping on the highlights.

I kept thinking my main problem with HDR on my TV was it being too dark. However after tons of tweaking, reading and comparisons to blu I think my main issue is I am used to a high backlight. I generally shoot for accuracy and have been using warm color, zero sharpness, etc. for a decade plus. However a higher backlight than recommended is my one home theater "guilty pleasure." I'm not talking about 100/100 torch mode, more like 50-60. The low end of HDR seems to be more around a home theater website advised backlight setting for a dark room of 20-30.

Dynamic contrast on low seems to boost it enough for me to enjoy, but I hate having that kind of thing turned on.

I like screen #7 in the above Spider-Man example, FYI. I can see it has some minor blown highlights though.

Click-bait no doubt! I have a LG OLED C65P have no issue with daylight and HDR so if a OLED has no issue I really doubt any LCD would.
