Jfc delayed again, now april 18th 2019

I think it's time for Criterion or Arrow to come solve this problem

'Irreversible' will get a 'Straight Cut' rearranging the scenes in chronological order. To achieve this some scenes without dialogue have been deleted so the scenes will work in that order too (around 5 Min.) - no censorship-deletions have been performed according to Noe. First it was planned only as a bonus to the BD-Release but now it seems that Noe likes the version so much that he wants a separate release for it.

News (in German):

https://www.schnittberichte.com/news.php?ID=15051

Quote:
Noe: “Removing the anti-clockwise structure, a mentally invasive formal concept, brings out the actors’ performances that much more forcefully. The gentleness or violence of the situations and the emotional states of the characters become even more apparent”

A chronological cut was on the Japanese DVD from years ago.

There is an Australian release but it has a mediocre 1080i transfer, holding out for the UK or maybe South Korea might be a better option.

I think there were rumors that Indicator will release this in the UK. Gonna wait for that one. I bet it will also include both cuts.

French version is up for pre-order now though: https://www.amazon.fr/Irr%C3%A9versi.../dp/B07NRFC6CP

Still not sure if I should get this (the steel is nice for sure) or wait for the UK release instead. Unless the SC is done by FidelityInMotion, I'm sure the Indicator release will be the better option compression wise.

Hi the French straight cut Steelbook is confirmed to have no subtitles, so I wouldn't buy that version unless you also speak fluent French. The German Steelbook is the best option as it has English subtitles for both the normal and straight cut.

Unfortunately it's sold out practically everywhere including Amazon Germany. I luckily managed to pre-order it on a Austrian online store with shipping to the UK.

It will likely release in the UK by one of the boutique British film companies or whoever has the UK rights. But you could be waiting well into next year for it, I pre-ordered The German Steelbook as it has UK subtitles.

I've only watched the film on a crappy film 4 tv broadcast years ago, then later on dvd. The 4k scan of the Super16 mm film used for Irreversible Steelbook should be a nice upgrade in picture quality. And also sound wise the DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 French track.

Yeah I saw on the other thread Indicator replied in a email saying it's a likely Jan or Feb UK release so that's good news. My German straight cut Steelbook has shipped early, should hopefully get it in a week or so. Around about the official release date 10th Dec or shortly after if the delivery is slow.

Indicator have now announced their releases upto and including March and this isn't there. So April would be the earliest.

My Steelbook arrived, backside says that subs are "German", "English" and "French for hard of hearing"

Well, if you also open the steelbook and pop in the discs you'll see: English subtitles are available for the Theatrical Cut but the Straight Cut only comes with French and German subtitles.

That may be perfectly fine for people preferring the Theatrical Cut anyway but just keep in mind that the Straight Cut is NOT English-friendly.

The Caps-A-Holic guys will probably do a more thorough job on this one soon but I did a few quick screenshots from this new German/French StudioCanal Theatrical Cut Blu-ray to match their comparison:

EDIT: Here's the same moments in direct comparison to the Straight Cut Blu-ray...
https://www.screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/8879/

...and I added a few more screenshots only from the Straight Cut:
