Twister will sound AMAZING in PCM. I'll buy it for sure.

The film itself was meh......

well if you read any of my post you would have saw that i said ignore the blu-ray vs hd dvd petty crap. which obviously, you skipped right over. theres a lot of good info on that site, that doesn't pertain to hdm. the format war is ruining the whole forum.

but anyways, i'm curious what hd dvd is going to do once blu-ray is killing it all through jan

So, HD-DVD supporters spouting "Just wait until January..." are clearly spouting FUD. It's incredible to see some of them still very optimistic about 2008.

Some expect some BD studios to go "neutral", which will help fill up the release slate.

Some expect new HD DVD owners to go out and purchase catalog like crazy... thereby beating BD in the Nielsen's.

BTW, I agree with you xtop, a lot of great forums... just not their HDM one!

Well, clearly there's a lot more coming out on BD in Jan than on HD-DVD, which is good for Blu-Ray.

Though for me, none of the titles on either side are impressing me, so if either side gets any of my money next month, it will be on releases that have already been out for some time.

I do kind of hope that the BOGO sales and all of that continue into next month and beyond, and don't suddenly stop because of the end of the Holiday season. Between buying christmas gifts for my family and other recent personal purchases, I really don't want to take advantage of any current sales because despite the good deals, I really still shouldn't spend the money.

As for new releases, I heard that in February, both Dogma and Run Lola Run are coming out on Blu-Ray, both of which I'd be very interested in owning. I could really see Run Lola Run looking excellent in Hi-Def if they do a good job with the transfer.

Yeah because Lola Run on DVD is ULGY.. i mean ... really Ulgy... so my expectation are not very high, but Sony has been good since many months now.. so..

I'm really shocked that HD DVDs releases are out numbered like that.

Good news for us.

Bad new for me. I'm not really looking forward to any of those titles really. Maybe Con-air, but I doubt it. If I do buy a BD released in Jan. It'll probably be the Monty Python movie towards the end of the month.

Resident Evil should be a pretty big hit..I'm not into it though.

And here I thought I was going to get a little break in January on the wallet. I see at least 10 titles that I want to pick up, and 6 of these I have already pre-ordered.

This does look weak for HD-DVD for the first quarter of 2008. Blu sales should maintain the lead first of 2008.

I hope that we get some really good news by the first day of the Consumer Electronics Show (January 7th), but either way, if the release schedule stays as is then the Blu-ray side will probably be able to announce a big ratio for Nielsen First Alert data for the first week of 2008, during the show (like Wednesday, January 9th).

The only ones that interest me are Saw IV and The Life of Brian. Other than that, there ain't much for me there. A little disappointed that we won't be getting Zodiac, I really wanted that one. I'm sure we'll be getting it eventually.

What makes it even worse is the Day & Date is so skewed towards Blu-rays side people who rent New Releases will notice nearly all the titles are only available on Blu-ray.

Keep in mind this is what Feb kind of looks like with New Releases right now.

Feb 5th HD - Elizabeth Golden Age, Brave One
Feb 12th HD - No Reservations, Into The Wild
Feb 19th HD - AMERICAN GANGSTER
Feb 26th HD - Nothing (so far)

Feb 5th BR - Brave One, Jane Austen Book Club
Feb 12th BR - We Own The Night, No Reservations, Becoming Jane, Gone Baby Gone
Feb 19th BR -Nothing (so far)
Feb 26th BR - 30 Days of Night

Notice the week of Feb 19th.........I'm almost 100% postive Blu-ray is going to lose that week UNLESS Warner goes BR exclusive in Jan. American Gangster will be a top seller for HD and I can't think of how BR will sale enough product in a low selling month (typically) to make up the sales this title will be bring in.
