But that would've
[Show spoiler]betrayed the theme that King (in the book) and Carpenter (in the show) were trying to get across, namely that changing the past is a fool's errand, that you break more than you fix -- there are always unintended consequences you couldn't have predicted (I think Cooper's character even mentions the butterfly effect in the pilot). Franco's character learns to accept the past for what it is and that he just doesn't belong there. That last point is virtually hammered into your head every time the Yellow Card Man appears.

And I would argue that the ending doesn't void the rest of the show. Franco is the main character. We go through the story from his perspective. It's more the journey than the destination. I think they absolutely nailed the last scene, and of course it is the same ending of the book. They were smart not to second guess King on that. Everything is resolved properly and emotionally and it is thematically consistent with what came before. It's a perfect denouement, in my opinion.

Thumbs up

I liked the book and was really excited to learn that it was being made into a mini-series, which I found out a week before the debut.

Really enjoyed the show and have been waiting for the BD release.

Day 1 purchase for me.

Nice that they did 8 episodes as opposed to a 2-hour theatrical movie. Interesting subject matter. I'll have to buy it. It bugged me that Franco smirked his way through Oz, which is the only film of his that I've seen. That's the one word I think of when I think of him. I can see that getting tiring because it sounds like it's his shtick. Still I enjoyed the Oz movie a lot.

I loved OZ, but Franco's ever-present smirk seemed at odds with the character. The film tells us that he truly cared about the girl/doll, but his smirk didn't appear to reflect the screenplay.

I wish that a different actor starred in 11.22.63, just as I wish that a different actor had starred in OZ.

News for Australian release: http://www.sanity.com.au/products/23...22_63_M15_2016

I'm glad this is not another DVD only Aussie release of a US BD release. Looking forward to this one. Been a Stephen King fan ever since I read The Dark Half as a teenager and I also like the work of JJ Abrams. How can I go wrong with a blind buy on this one.

Loved this mini-series and am currently reading the book. Just wish the mini-series was now 4 episodes longer so there could've been more scenes from the book in the show.
Maybe I glossed over the special features but this seems as though it'd be excellent for an excuse of a nice gamut of very well put together stuff.

Could be an error, which is normal for backcovers.

Loved the book (audio), loved the series. Plus I am a JFK assassination freakazoid. I have tons of books, magazine, video, DVD etc on the topic. However, I will NOT be purchasing the August 9th release for one simple reason. The near complete lack of any extras on the Blu-ray. Just ONE item...a featurette? Are they kidding? No excuse for this paucity.

These days we are lucky to get a smaller show, like this, on BD.
Sure extensive extras are always great, but I will take what I can get.

Nordic backcover:

Notice how they have the Dolby Atmos logo on it, but the audio specs say DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1?

This is easily one of my favorite King books so I'll get this at some point. Waiting for that price-drop...

The artist meant to put on the Dolby Audio logo and ended up putting an Atmos logo. It's happened a few times now. (Hardcore Henry - US release)

For whatever reason they use this logo when there is any type of Dolby audio (dubs, commentary tracks).

Funny that they did get in another Dolby Audio logo so they probably forgot to delete the error.

Can you or someone else say anything on the aspect ratio? 1.78:1 or 2.00:1.

Above guy in video says 1.78:1. Think he just looked at the backcover or didn't notice the black bars....

I have not played the disc but I can spot check it later on this evening, and report back.
