Hmm. Interesting. The stepfather didn't appear until after I made that list, but there was that weird argument he had at her funeral. Some bad blood there.

Thought this was really good.

I think the cops made a ton of mistakes.
This felt like an ep of 48 hours when the cops interview someone and the people continue to talk and answer questions thinking the cops are helping.

It's almost insidious how that lead detective pretends to have Naz's best interests in mind while questioning him.

...when the only thing he's doing is trying to get him to hang himself.

That guy has the "good cop" routine down cold.

Episode 2 was great and added another theory to the mix. Though really this episode and I imagine the remaining episodes may be more or less about seeing the justice system through many different eyes. It seems to show how the system treats you as guilty without being proven guilty. It shows how that treatment can impact those around you such as his family -- no cab to drive and no more computer at home, etc...Its looking like the theme of this show is going to be an inside look at the justice system more than a show about getting to the truth. I do hope we as the audience get the truth at some point.

In any event, the new theory I had based on last nights episode:

[Show spoiler]4. The step-father. From him we got to find out a little about the victim's past and what her family situation was like. Mother died of cancer and father died when she was about 10. Didn't explain what he died of though. We also found out that the home the victim was living in was her moms.

Ok, so here's my theory on why the step-father may be the culprit. What if they guy is a pedophile. Lets say her real mom and dad split when she was 9ish and then this guy comes into the picture and does some bad stuff to her which continues on. Real dad finds out and goes to confront this guy and the step dad kills him. We never found out how her dad died just her mom. Mom never finds out of this abuse or "chooses" to ignore it and ends up marrying the guy. He continues to abuse her while he's married to her mom.

Mom and he end up splitting later on in life and she ends up with the nice place. Dude is upset and wants it back. Mom ends up dying. Step-dad is coming to take the place back, but she threatens to tell people close to him about his abuse in the past. He decides to kill her. Waits in the place and for the kids to pass out and then does his business and ends up framing the kid.

Kind of loose, I know but just something I thought about while watching the episode.

Watched the pilot.

I was so confident about the end of this series that I read the synopsis for the British show it's based on and was right.

I liked ep 2 more than the pilot. It was masterfully made. Every shot is gorgeous.

Because, of course, you've read all of the scripts for the remaining episodes and it's a 1-1 adaptation of the British show.

Something about her stinks.

I think she's doing it for the publicity and will attempt to turn the trial into a cause celebre, at the expense of Naz's defense.

...at some point Naz will realize this and bring Mr. Foot Fungus back into the mix.

If this thread is any indication, then this show doesn't seem to be getting a lot of attention.

...that's a shame.

It's not unheard of. A lot of lawyers do what's called "pro bono" work:
