IMDb says select scenes were shot with Red Dragon Epic; couple articles I skimmed on Google seem to confirm. Not 100% sure though, IMDb has been wrong in the past.

RED does have a listing on their website, so you're not wrong. They probably used them for the big set piece moments.

2K release, not shot in 3D. I find little incentive to get anything more than regular 2D for this one.
Unless a miracle happens and it's released in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos on UHD BD.
EDIT - Ugh...and Amazon was being idiots with Star Trek and Strek Trek Into Darkness. Refusing to drop the price below $47 for a long time.

Both UHD movies have been $30 at Best Buy since release day.

Dunno about DV but HDR and Atmos seem almost guaranteed for the UHD, even with a 2K DI you'll see improvements over the BD, even if they might not be day-and-night. Unless there's some really incredible exclusive I'll just get the UHD when it drops in price.

I know. I don't live in the US though, so shipping to Singapore is a huge pain in the rear.

I know where you're coming from.
I may want to wait for a price drop too.

Got it...I don't know what Overstock.com's int'l rates are, but they carry a small selection of UHD movies. They've got the 2 trek movies among them for around $30 as well-

Re-watched the first two at home before seeing Beyond last night. Beyond is my favorite of the three! Time has not done any favors for JJ's two installments for this long time Trek fan. I enjoyed the first two when they came out (yes, even Into Darkness, somewhat grudingly), but now I see issues I had been willing to overlook easier before. I'm still fine with JJ and Co trying new things in their movies, because the first season of Classic Trek was just too, trying to find those characters and establish its identity.

I wish this was out on BD already!! As it is, I'm seeing it again Monday with other friends and in Barco Escape format after winning tickets online. I appreciate Cinerama format, but the trailer for this configuration suggests I should keep my expectations down.

Exactly, dvdmike. But it's free, so the price was perfect!

Does anyone know if any of the retailer exclusives have actual exclusive bonus content, other than packaging? Or is it way too early to be asking this question?

It's too early, but I hope we don't get another iTunes exclusive video commentary, like Into Darkness. That's a hell of an exclusive to leave off of a disc.

Yeah, I was VERY glad they released "The Compendium" to rectify the debacle with STID's bonus features.
