It is pretty weird it's not up already, usually they're made available absurdly fast.

Gonna get the 2-D version on BD.
3-D wasn't overly annoying but still unnecessary and bothersome.

Also, 2D Blu-Ray will not have a slip. This is exclusive to the 3D version.

And unless Disney/Marvel start releasing 4K discs, there won't be a 4K release.

If you use Amazon, preorder as soon as it becomes available in case they pull that "exclusively for Prime members" crap. If you preorder with Amazon, it's basically guaranteed you'll only pay $19.99 for the 3D version as it dips to that price at some point.
I'm just going to repeat this to pre-empt anyone asking the questions this addresses.

Just took a look, appears to be a third party seller from Europe that sells off of Amazon Canada site. I'm guessing bootleg copies...which could be good quality sourced from some digital projector copy. Too bad it's Region B, I don't have a region free player.

What? Why would you want a bootleg copy? I'm impatient for it too, but........

It's no surprise. Until Disney announces that they are jumping into the 4K market, it's safe to assume their titles won't have 4K releases.

If it's a bootleg then it won't have any Region locking but there are no quality versions available just camera recording the screen copies.

The way I see it, Disney has several franchises that they'd have big back catalogs to reissue in 4K if they hopped on the format. I'm guessing they'd prefer people just do Disney Movies Anywhere instead of releasing titles on a new format.

If they release Doctor Strange on 4K, then they'll need to get the previous 13 MCU movies in 4K as well. And even though they seem to just print money in theatrical releases, merchandise, and home video, when it comes to physical home video packages, Disney tends to get cheap.

Basically, never say they won't, but I think Disney's just waiting to see if 4K sales are worth jumping onto. At the moment, it's a young format.

Universal could release the Hulk 2003 AND Incredible Hulk 2008 in 4K without permission from Disney.
They have the home video rights to the Hulk movies.
I wish they would do it.

Technically they dont have to do this. Id be happy with them to just start releasing films in 4K from now on. If they want to do 4K re-issues of back catalogue films down the track then great. I do find it quite odd they haven't announced a Pre-order for Doctor strange as of yet. I crnt remember the last MCU film that wasn't up for pre-order before ot at release of the film theatrically. This is now 6 weeks on and still nothing.

Could be they are considering what you proposed. I'd be happy if Doctor Strange was Disney/Marvel's first foray into 4K. It would make sense, as Disney would not need to fully commit to 4K just yet, they could start with just Marvel titles at first. I was hoping that when Disney/Lucasfilms delayed offering a 3D Blu-ray at launch last April for Star Wars VII, we would get a 3D/UHD combo last month. But, alas, it did not happen. Now Doctor Strange is my New Hope (pun intended ).
