I started this topic 24 hours ago, and I want to thank you readers showing your great interest about it! And thank you SO MUCH for giving me extra information about 3D blu-rays with aspect ratio changes and frame breaking effects. I'm updating the list with great care!

For the record, Guardians of the Galaxy switches from 2.40:1 to 1.78:1, not 1.90:1. That was the theatrical IMAX ratio but it's changed for Blu-ray to fill the screen.

I remember that 'Amphibious 3D' showed scorpions crawling out of black borders in its end scene.

Small correction, but Captain America: Civil War switches from 2.35:1 to 1.85:1, not 1.90:1 (same thing as the GoTG BD, 1.90:1 being the ratio in IMAX theaters.)

The credits scenes in both Despicable Me movies have a lot of fun with the black bars and poking through the screen.

Transformers: Age of Extinction had three aspect ratios.

2.40, 1.90 and something around 2.07 for some shots.

Are you talking about the IMAX 3D presentation or the 3D blu-ray?

Actually, aren't the right aspect ratios for 3D blu-ray 2.40:1, 2.07:1 and 1.78:1?

I have a question regarding this topic. I've just bought myself a projector with an Elite Vmax Dual screen, which is actually two screens, one that is 16x9 and the other is 2.35:1. I'm sure that for the movies that have changing aspect ratios, I just have to watch the entire movie in 16x9 and "suffer" through the black bars, but what happens with movies with the frame breaking effect? Does that information get lost in the masking on the 2.35:1 screen?

Yes, you would not see it masking for 2.35. I just project on a wall so I don't miss anything.

Despicable Me is 1.85:1, so it's just pop outs. Despicable Me 2 is the one where they mess with the bars. Also just a little bit in the credits of Minions. Memory malfunction....

I'm talking about the 3D Blu-ray. There are three ratios in it. 2.40, 1.90 and 2.07. But never 1.78. Watch the chapter when Lockdown captures Optimus Prime. (The Creators Want You Back).

I'm quite sure in IMAX 3D was also the same. But I've only seen it once in IMAX and I didn't notice it the first time.

By the way, have you noticed the "frame tilt" in Ghostbusters? Any other 3D blu-rays with that kind of effect?

at the end, right before the end credits, Flynn sticks his hands out into the letterboxed black bar area.
