I ended up going with the 14 AWG wire as there were a few complaints on the site about getting the 12 into the banana connectors. Realistically, will there be any noticable difference in sound quality between these two? I'm a bit of an audiophile, but I'm only using midrange equipment, so I'm not sure I'll be able to tell.

Nah, you won't be able to tell a difference.

It really depends on the length of your wire runs.

It depends on the quality of the cables. If the quality of the two is the same, odds are the difference will be negligible.

I am using a bluejeanscable.com sub cable it is quite nice. But it really doesn't sound any better or worse than my previous sub cable which was a makertek.com commercial video cable. The reason I went with the bjc sub cable is the same reason I went with their speaker cable, they use great connectors which make my life as a legally blind A/V fan much easier. The sub cable fits nice and smug, and the adjustable banana plugs they carry are the best I have ever had. If you can't use banana plugs with Onkyo recievers I would be very shocked. Even the cheapie prologic reciever I used to have accepted them. My last Denon reciever wouldn't work with paired banana plugs because the terminals were closer together than standard, but worked fine with single banana plugs.

Thanks for the tip... didn't realize how expensive snakes were... $60-70 bucks!
