Obviously we can't expect the movies "fixed camera" with "tank controls" game look BUT what I'd like to see is a bigger return to "Survival Horror" where less is more where zombies are concerned. In Resident Evil 1 for example, Spencer Mansion has a handful of them just coming to life when 'needed' for that scare moment. Most of the tension comes from having suspense of "where will the next one come from" and a horror aesthetic. Spencer Mansion is ripe for a darker look and dingy horror buy not artificially dark to the point where there isn't anything visible. Obviously moving onto Resident Evil 2, there's gonna be more zombies because it's a city, but the confines of the Police Station and underground sewers area means they could still keep the numbers down and show larger hordes in distance shots.
The movies are going to definitely need action scenes and the trick is to pull them off with as authentic a look as possible whilst looking realistic. Not "Superhuman in a zombie movie" like Milla Jovovich was even when she "lost" her powers. It was ridiculous and absurd. Although maybe that's what helped make so much money and they'll stick to that formula. |

Milla Jovovich talks about the reboot... and I'm struggling to figure out who she's talking about with that second and third paragraph.

I don't get why Resident Evil would be so hard to adapt and make a success Imo. A really tightly polished script, all practical effects and small sets would create a great movie. These idiots in Hollywood just mess everything up by assuming "Hmm, i think it needs more CGI, explosions and action. It tested well and look at the box office for transformers"
![]() I personally think a very character driven survival horror with suitable action scenes would do great. The dogs from the original Resident Evil were great but the problems Imo started with the 2nd movie. The first actually had some great Resident Evil esque moments. They need to go more back to those type of elements but make it even more like the games and better polished. |

As long as they can shoot action scenes better this time, I'm fine
Action scenes in Final Chapter are horrible with overedited, quick cuts, I can't see clearly what's happening anymore. Slow motion overused in previous movies were not any better, but at least it's still easier to watch. Anyway, just watch RE Vendetta, and it has some awesome, well-choreographed fight scenes. But it's CG so I guess it can be made easier than shooting action scenes with actors. |

First act would be the train journey and introduction to the characters and the world, which would end with the train crashing and them getting to the mansion for safety. Second act would play out like John Carpenter's The Thing except the characters are isolated and holed-up in this creepy Gothic mansion a la Hill House, where they're unsure of what's happening with tension and paranoia abound. Third act would be a frantic fight for survival with the Zombies overrunning the mansion, Zombie Dogs, Bats, Licker etc but played straight Horror not action, and ending with the climactic reveal and cliffhanger regarding the Umbrella Corporation. So simple. |
