It's a solid balance. This and THE FIRST AVENGER are essentially the same movie with the same type of tone. In my humble opinion, this film is better than that one because it doesn't skirt around the issue and setting of war and the supporting characters get more play and we get to know them more than THE FIRST AVENGER.

But, I mean it when I say it; this film and THE FIRST AVENGER are almost the same damn film.

Do we have any Indication if the final master? I see the Arri Alexa 65 was used, which is good news.

They're usually very accurate, even if the write-up is wrong on the top sheet (happened before with Interstellar, I think?) the name of the file is a dead giveaway as it actually has 2K or 4K in it. So, WonderWoman_FTR-2D_S_EN-EN-CCAP_OV_51-HI-VI-Dbox_2K_WR_20170512_DTB_IOP_OV is most definitely a 2K DCP. Kinda had a feeling it would be, and it appears that Pirates 5 is also 2K. Bleh.

Darn darn darny darn!!!

The question is, does this movie look better in 3D or 4K? If the 3D is lackluster, then I'm opting for 4K, unless we get lucky, and the 4K version includes 3D.

What about the masters that they make for IMAX? Every time I see a trailers on press sites the IMAX versions of the trailers have 4K in the title and are in 4K resolution.

Upscales. Which is what the IMAX DMR process has always been in a sense, they did the same thing for their 15/70 blow-ups as there isn't a 35mm to 15-perf 65mm contact printer in existence, so everything had to either be scanned in or digitally ingested before being up-rezzed/sharpened/noise reduced etc and recorded back out to 15/70.

You might have to check a different thread since most (not all, of course, but most) 4k people are 2D people. And that is the version that most of them will opt for. while I have not seen the movie yet, I have seen the 3D trailer on YouTube and the 3D looks damn fine. Whether the trailer is representative of how the movie looks remains to be seen.

Well, they're pretty damn good upscales from what I've captured from them(my computer is a little too old to handle playing them... ). Here's some from Justice League. The non VFX shots look 10x better than shots with VFX:

(cropped them to show the difference without having to upload the uncompressed PNG captures which are 13MB & 15MB)

Without VFX:

Yikes, I've seen plenty of other 2K upscales that are way, way sharper than your '4K' shot of Ezra Miller, to say nothing of the DVD-esque level of resolution in the VFX shot. Those are upscales all the way.

Wow! The VFX makes a world of difference! It's like they are two different people! Amazing!
