Are the 4K versions of Rise and Dawn worthy upgrades? They already look amazing in 1080p.

Already have Rise and Dawn on UHD and love 'em, but I am so hype for War. Movies come home quick nowadays at least, and 4K train is full steam ahead.

It's okay, nothing amazing. The BD is overly bright due to lack of range and the UHD is nicely more contrasty, but it ain't a flash upgrade. Dawn was a more impressive upgrade, the HDR helps the CG apes blend into the scene more and there was a more noticeable detail increase.

I finished watching Rise (standard blu ray) and about to start Dawn on 3d. Rise does look quite good, but there's room for improvement, I guess. the colors are a little washed out, for one. but still a pretty good blu ray. I wonder if the uhd fixes that?

and I have to say, I love that the cover matches, they should do that again for the trilogy cases (assuming it's a slip box with 3 individual cases)

Definitely thinking of getting this but hopefully through WOWHD not Amazon.com. Just waiting for their pre-order to go up. Of course the best thing would be for a UK box set but I have a feeling we won't be getting one. I would get this over the HMV steelbook I have pre-ordered for War.

My Best Buy had steelbooks for both movies with his face closeup I almost bought many times. Keep telling myself "don't pay for packaging" though and moved on. Would be really neat to have three face covers though.

Even with amazon's postage costs and customs fees to the UK that still works out to about £50-ish delivered, might as well bang in a preorder now and see what happens with a UK release, if it works out any cheaper.

So they're pretty much doing what they did for the Fast and Furious movies - every time there's a new movie out, they sell them as a set, then do the same when the next movie comes out...
