Interesting news on Warner, though I wish they'd announced that all of the extras on Superman Returns would be in HD as it was shot. It's on BD50 after all! Is it so hard for them to admit that once they gave all that can be fit on 30GB, that they can move on to fill up 50GB?

Wow... It looks like BD-50 is here and in a big way... Just another piece of information that can be used to shut up the HD-DVD fanboys. Good to see all studios embracing BD-50, now all we need is some BD-50 announcements from Disney... Can I get PotC?

BTW... World Trade Center on BD50 sounds awesome... 12/12 can't come fast enough.

Yeah - this article is written with severe bias. I think IME and maybe higher disc capacity is the key.

Though if they are doing BD50 for The Searchers, one would think that they have little resistance to BD50.

The HD-DVD people refuse to see what is happening. Warner is slowly but surely bringing all the titles previously released on HD-DVD to Blu-ray. It took a few months for VC1 to become available and now we are just waiting for Blu-ray Java to come to fruition and then I am sure we will see movies like Batman Begins and Harry Potter as well. Pretty soon the only advantage HD-DVD will have over Blu-ray are the titles from Universal. I was just at Best Buy and both formats had about the same amount of movies on the racks.

The author of that had bad timing.

I'd like to get that Legends of Jazz BR release that is also mentioned there. I watched a few of the episodes on my local PBS-HD feed OTA, and they were very good. Jane Monheit is soooo hot!

EDIT:

I see that Video Universe has the Legends of Jazz Showcase BR listed for pre-order, available Oct 24th, but I see no listing for it on Amazon, only a CD/DVD set.

Great first post! I agree 100%. To counter the HD DVD of Batman Begins and IME (i have it and it is jawdropping) Warner Bros is waiting for BD Java to be fully functional. No doubt this will be a BD 50 loaded with extras.

And that's when I'll buy it.

It'll be well worth the wait. Plenty of other movies to enjoy in the meantime.

You know we are getting to the point now (for me at least) that I have plenty to go on with and am happy to wait out for the big titles that would have been instant buys on HD DVD even a month ago.

Warner is obviously waiting for something and it will be interesting to see what it is and if any of their BD50 releases make use of the 20GB or so that is left over after you translate the HD DVD release across.

In any case, I think that 'wait and see' is going to be the way to go...
