I would assume that most labels probably don't want to go through the hassle of seamless branching.

Interesting that the KL BD of The Train includes Julie K.'s essay booklet but it is excluded here. Another TT keeper. It may be a smaller concern but I also dig that disc's "roadshow" presentation (the overture, intermission, etc.). |

I find it odd and funny that this came out Jan. 2018 … yet just TODAY in Dec. 2022 finally got a review. .
I realize they have dozens of movies and tv series to try to review most weeks…But it took them almost 5 years? Anyway, awesome movie. |

can anyone explain to me why the Twilight Time version states a runtime of 179 minutes while the Kino states 186 minutes? are there different versions of this film? thank you!!

I have the Twilight Time release and can confirm it actually runs just over 190 minutes. There are lengthy overture, intermission, entre' act and exit music sections that just play the score over a blank screen. Omitting these music only sections from the runtime should be how the numbers you stated were derived. The Kino release does not have the overture, intermission, entre' act and exit music sections. Otherwise, the movies should be the same between the two releases.

The Kino disc also lacks Twilight Time's DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround mix, which the review on this site describes as "surprisingly well done" with "excellent attention paid to directionality," as well as the 5.1 isolated music score by Ernest Gold.
If these omissions bother you but you don't want to pay aftermarket prices for the OOP TT disc, I believe the region-free German Blu-ray by Capelight Pictures has the additional overture, intermission, etc., as well as the isolated score and 5.1 English track -- although on that disc, the English mono is replaced by German mono. |
