Just a note from watching it took only 45 min to have 100 more votes, and move blu up one percent in that time pulling that percent from hd-dud.

I feel worse for the people who bought into HD-DVD because of the lies spread by others, specially by those in the news...

Who is Ken Graffeo?
Check this out:
http://www.pocket-lint.co.uk/news/ne...-blu-ray.phtml

"Studies show that 70% of gamers don’t even know that their console has a DVD playback option." -- BS! A great number of early PS2 adopters wanted it to play DVDs back then too!
"The PS3 simply hasn’t been the gamer changer Sony had hoped it would be." -- Maybe, but it has been the Blu-Ray launchpad they thought it would be.
"It’s too early to tell with the market being in this early stage, but as consumers continue to migrate to large HD displays, player prices continue to come down and the experience on HD DVD accelerates we feel very good about future prospects for the format." -- too LATE now...

I was smiling the entire article, except for the statement saying that Blu-ray supporters agree that HDDVD palyers are cheapier. It's crap like that that needs to be clarified to consumers. 1080i= cheap player with 2 channel dts-hd support and 1080p=same price as BD, but I suppose I'm preaching to the choir. Go Blu and thank you Warner.

They got it from me. I gave WB 450 Large to go blu exclusive. Sorry. I just couldn't wait anymore.

"What’s important is that HD DVD owns the lead in dedicated CE player sales and maintains a 4:1 software attach rate over Blu-ray, meaning people are purchasing four times more HD DVD titles per HD DVD player than Blu-ray." from the article that tommyD linked above.

"The HD format is about stand-alone players, not game systems. We don’t think gamers will buy movies"
from:http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/sh...t_IFA_2007/920

"Even if the other format were to eventually win, there's no risk. Because that HD-DVD player you buy will still play your regular DVDs and, by upconverting, will actually make the discs look better."
and
"We didn't have many hot releases in the first quarter, or many releases at all. They had some real biggies, like "Casino Royale." The fourth quarter will be telling. Our releases will be stronger, and we're looking for a big attach rate [that's disc sales per player] when people jump for an inexpensive HD-DVD machine to show off their new high-def TV set." both from: http://www.cdrlabs.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=23407
Ken needs to be shot! then all this madness will stop. I would hate to be the one that has to admit defeat... He should have done it 6 months ago before it got built to this point. Oh well. their loss

I personally liked the other story linked in the article:

I just sent the writer of that piece a short email pointing out that his statement that Sony is the major proponent of BD is shotty journalism.

I informed him about the BDA, listed the 18 companies on the board, pointed out that there were also more than 60 contributing companies to the BDA as well as more than 90 other "member" companies.

Journalists (albeit bad ones) insist on tying BD to Sony, and all it does is polarize Sony haters against BD. People need to get over their Sony hatred, BD is bigger than any one company.

Good point. A Panasonic employee actually chairs the BDA and they have more blu-ray patents than Sony does.

Graffeo is a complete and utter douchebag, they should can his sorry ass as soon as possible.

When Paramount jumps ship, they need to can Alan Bell's ass too.

No, no, no, they should keep both, they've been the biggest help for BD since this all began. If you're playing against morons, you have a lot better chance at winning
