Yeah the Spierigs seem to have an interesting method of changing genres within the film, Daybreakers shifted between sci-fi and horror, Jigsaw shifted between crime drama and horror, looks like Winchester will shift between historical period and horror.

They changed the name back to just "Winchester" which is better IMO. Also release date is February 2nd, 2018

Just found out about this while watching Graham Norton and Helen Mirren was a guest. I'm pretty interested honestly, the story can't be horrible if Helen Mirren is attached.

When I took my grandmother and her bible study friends to see The Post, this trailer played and they all perked up and said, "We should go see that, Helen Mirren never disappoints".

I just laughed at these 70+ year old women wanting to go see a horror movie because Helen is in it.

Mirren's got it going on. When you beat out an twentysomething year old starlet for Sexiest Woman Alive, that's says a hell of a lot.

Not exactly. They did re-writes. It was written by Tom Vaughan, whose brother runs the amazing retro movie site Kindertrauma.

Yeah I actually think this is going to skew much older than most horror films with the lead being an elderly woman. Nothing wrong with that though.

True but that was an established movie series and they had a lot of focus on the teen girl in the ads. With Winchester it's no doubt who the lead is and there doesn't appear to be any younger characters.
