Huh? Who was talking about hiring?
I simply observed about trailer placement - that apparently this theater thought people who saw those two movies would only be interested in other black movies.

Because they were both lying about what actually happened which came out after the show had closed. And then Oak continued to lie further after that.

I don't really think the producers did anything wrong, they were trying to save their show and Oak agreed with 100 percent with what they offered him. It was only when Casal got in his ear that the shitshow started.

Either way Oak and Casal were WAY in the wrong and both liars to boot x

It's always good to see more representation in films, but it was almost offensive in its pandering, like black people only want to watch black films.
Yeah, I get that feeling too. I understand trying to appeal to a target audience but it's more annoying and borderline insulting than anything else to assume that it's the only thing that target audience is interested in. I may be black but it doesn't mean that the movies you mentioned will appeal or interest me because I'm black. Creed II interest me because I liked the first film and Sorry To Bother You has my interest based on the wacko, mindf aspect of it but I've yet to take the plunge. The Hate U Give is one I have no desire to see at all.

BTW, if I see that Nobody's Fool trailer again, I will lose my s***.

I don't care what some dude did on his personal life.

I am judging this solely on the art form and this movie was truly fantastic!

The fact that I knew as little as possible made it all the better.

Saw this earlier this afternoon and was very impressed. The story seems to continuously see-saw between seriousness and laughs, yet the tonal shifts don't feel jarring.

I can see this movie occupying a Top 10 spot for me by the end of the year. It's unfortunate its not doing better at the BO. The small room this was screened in was about 3rd full.

I laughed out-loud when
[Show spoiler]Miles' discovers the same California state tattoo on the hipster's neck as on his own.

And Nobody's Fool and Night School. I got the Night School trailer on Equalizer 2 and was like "what?"

There's been an over-saturation of Tiffany Haddish.

I thought the film was excellent and way better than Sorry to Bother You.

Easily one of the best films I've seen this year. Definitely in my top two so far.

The dna of this film is so rich, authentic, dense, and genuine.
That climax was something else. This movie is the real deal. So glad I decided to see this. To think is a debut effort. Bravo.

Oh yeah I forgot both of those were on there too.

...and even just one film is an over-saturation of Tiffany Haddish. God, I hope her 15 minutes of fame are almost up.

I've wanted to see this, and seemingly MoviePass was pushing it for awhile, yet the showtimes always seem to vanish lol. I'm still going to look out for it regardless.

I saw it yesterday with MP but I had to find some hoop to watch it. It was also not showing up on my app at all.

Try watching it, it's soooo worth it and perhaps one of the best obscure movies now playing in theaters.

I want to see this but still the closest theater playing it is an hour away. I keep hoping it will reach my city, but I worry I will end up missing it.

I think I will keep watching the theater that has it, and if when they post weekend showtimes I see they are losing it (and mine isn't getting it), I will make the trip.

I saw this last night who isn't a fan of the movies. We actually enjoyed this movie. Liked it a lot better than Sorry to bother you. It could have ended up badly but I am glad it didn't go that route.
[Show spoiler]
That whole scene with the kid and gun...my cousin figured it out like really quick before the reveal. I was like "oh ****!" I am sure my theater was holding their breath the entire time. I don't think I would have liked it if he had died...or that if we heard a gunshot in the background.

Overall I give it a 4 out 5.

Saw this a second time, easily the film of 2018 for me. And might honestly be the best film I've seen in the past decade. It's beautiful, incredibly smart, clever, meaningful, and has so many layers going on.

Some of the most powerful moments of the movie aren't big or flashy.

Specifically,
[Show spoiler]the scene where Collin calls Val the night he becomes free, and she explains the term "blind spotting" to him. Then he ends the phone call by asking if she only sees the violent side of him when she looks at him, and is met with silence. Absolutely heart breaking.

Then, the other subtle moment, was when Miles comes back home after the fight, and he finally, for the first and only time all movie, drops all guards. He lets himself become vulnerable. His girlfriend/wife asks if he was scared when the kid had the gun, and he simply responds "yes". And then when she asked if he thinks she could have seen this scenario happening if he would have asked her about the gun first, and he said he was sorry. Then asking her very calmly and plainly to not call him the N-word anymore. Just absolutely powerful artwork. Transcends movie making and becomes something so honest and real.

And the very final scene, we have Collin opening up and becoming vulnerable as well. Ever since seeing the cop shoot a man, he's been suffering PTSD. He is having nightmares. Visions. Then at the end, we finally see him break down and open up. After Miles asks him if he's okay, with a single tear streaming down his cheek, he admits "no", he is not okay.

Then the bigger, more flashy moments, like
[Show spoiler] the fight between Miles and Collin about how society views them, how they view themselves, the hardship of growing up in a certain part of the country while looking a different way, gentrification and modern growth....etc etc. That scene was just absolutely perfectly scripted.

And the final monologue in the form of a rap. I need to listen to that so many times just to pick up everything that's so tightly bundled in it. So many amazing things and delivered in such a stylistic way.

One thing I really appreciated, was
[Show spoiler]how they showed the cop dealing with grief himself. This could have easily been a "Cops VS Blacks" movie, but instead, they showed how much of a hollow shell the officer was after this ordeal happened. He was trembling and shaking before Collin ever pointed a gun at him. You could tell he honestly didn't mean to kill anybody, and he's been emotionally struggling to cope with it since. It's very rare for a movie like this to get sympathy and empathy to a character like that.

This movie made me an absolute wreck. I was sobbing at multiple points, for multiple different reasons.

Really amazing. Glad I was able to catch this on the big screen. Cannot wait to re-watch it.
[Show spoiler] The whole scene where they're telling the story of why he went to jail was so hilarious and I was really glad this didn't end with one of them dying or gojng back to jail like most films do. Perfect ending for the film

If we could get a poll for this bad boy so I can give it a 5/5, that would be great, thanks.
