Yes, the old Sony DVD had "dubtitles", i.e. the subtitles were captions of the English dub, not a translation of the Japanese dialogue.

I recall this being enjoyable but basically a not-as-good rehash of The Mysterians. (Wish we could get an English-speaking blu of that.)

Wouldn’t it be great if Indicator picked this up in the UK.

I believe that Indicator has no intentions of releasing foreign language films. Maybe Eureka will license them.

I'm assuming this is going to have the Japanese cut of the film and not just the dubbed version of the film?

A safe bet. Sony's DVD is dual-language.

So these are pressed now? That's great! This one will definitely be added to the collection.

Hope we'll see many more Japanese sci-fi/monster movies on Blu-ray over the coming couple of years, with both Godzlla: King of the Monsters and Godzilla vs. Kong on the horizon.

Really hoping this will mean an influx of more Japanese titles; a couple of live action series have recently been announced by Discotek Media. You can see packaging shots on the thread in my signature. Yes that is shameless self promotion.

Ooooh...does Sony have WAR OF THE GARGANTUANS? Because I'd really like to revisit that one.

The only Toho SFX films Sony owns are Mothra, Battle in Outer Space, The H-Man, the Rebirth of Mothra trilogy, and every Godzilla movie made between 1990 and 2004.

Tokusatsu releases are starting to pop up more. I'm really curious to see what else Discotek may do in the future.
If only tokusatsu was as popular as anime here. The new animes for Godzilla, Ultraman, and Gridman were almost immediately picked up for US distribution.

.
Hope the H-Man isn't too far behind for a blu-ray. One of Ishiro Honda's best.

Does anyone know who holds the rights to The Teligian (denso ningen)?

I'm not sure that Sony even has the UK rights: virtually none of the Godzilla films got any kind of home video release in the UK even back in the days when it seemed like everything came out on VHS let alone when Sony released the US DVDs, largely because Toho wanted such unrealistic sums for their films in that territory (sometimes as high as £250,000 - and that is UK pounds, not a misprint for dollars), and only a couple of Toho's scifi films made it to DVD there. At present the only three Toho Godzilla films on Blu in the UK are the original, King Kong vs. Godzilla (Universal cut) and Shin Gojira while The Mysterians - one of the few Toho scifi films to get a legit UK DVD release - has never been upgraded. Classic kaiju and Toho scifi just don't seem to sell enough there.

It's rumoured to be part of Criterion's upcoming boxset along with all the Showa era Godzilla movies and Rodan.

Unless they put it in a newsletter clue or the New Year's Day clue, no one really knows if they are actively in production (working on transfers, extras, etc.) But the films are up on FilmStruck right now.

Criterion will either release in 2019 or 2020, with the respective Legendary Godzilla films being released in cinemas or on home video. Beyond that, we know nothing about the release plans.

Interesting. So nobody even knows if this is even really happening? I thought it was known that it was going to happen, but the big question was when. Damn.
