This is a superb little set but gah, those player generated subtitles. The promos have the proper subs burnt in, the deleted scenes have the proper subs, but in the episodes proper they're just generic-fonted shite. I wouldn't normally kvetch about this (I made my peace with it for the Trek movies, for example) but it kinda took me by surprise and I really miss the OG subs. Ah well, it's this or nothing.

I was hoping to finally see the real subs on BD after watching on Netflix and their region generated ones, but I guess it's not meant to be!

Dispatched from HMV today after not finding a copy in the supermarkets.

Went in with an open mind but IMO you're not missing anything. Worst captain and cast in Star Trek history, infuriating breaks from canon and in your face toxic Hollywood politics infecting it from the top down. It's Star Trek's Last Jedi and I gave up after half a dozen episodes.

Don't forget this is just one persons opinion. Personally, I feel the second season has the better cast out the two, as well as resolves a lot of plots holes that Trek fans screamed about. In regards to Hollywood Politics, again that is just an opinion. I didn't pick up on anything more political that had already been seen prior in Trek.

Definitely give the first season a watch. You might end up enjoying it.

Well, just to add my 2 pence... I enjoyed the first season...a bit darker than “normal” Trek, and had this been released in UHD I would have purchased it...

But give it a watch...I felt it definitely didn’t deserve some of the criticism it got.

Amazon came up with the same price so I ordered myself a copy. Love Discovery and the second half of this season was my favourite with the Mirror Universe. Going to have a watch when it turns up later today! :-)

Season 1 was hit and miss, granted, but season 2 was excellent

Its just the Blu-ray that has remained unwatched not the show, I had already seen Season 1 when it was released on Netflix and despite a rough start it found its legs half way through the season and the MU mini arc was fantastic then the final episode was a bit of a let down but set up season 2 perfectly and that certainly didn't disappoint.

For me, it arrived there in season 1 anyway. I loved the Mirror arc, Lorca was a wonderful one-off for a different sort of captain and Saru is one of my favourite characters.

The different setup with the captain not the main character also allowed for the revolving door of Captains that left us with the fantastic return of Pike.

I enjoyed S2 a great deal, although towards the last 2-3 episodes Michael got very emo and whiny and on more than one occasion
[Show spoiler]endangered lives around her with her reluctance to eradicate immediate threats to the starship / galaxy because "boo-hoo I am so attached to this character", that should have got her removed from her post for emotional instability
. Also, I never quite understood
[Show spoiler]Terran Philippa
's attachment to Michael.

Pike is the king of all smooth motherf***ers in that show.
I want a Pike's adventures show.

For the second one

They'd better or they'll be hell to pay given how some link into the season, and a possible look towards season 3 as well.
