This is my favorite type of release--great looking movie I've never seen before that (I believe?) will be coming courtesy of Sony. As close to a sure thing as it gets.

I honestly thought Gladiator looked fantastic, btw.

But my God, Alien and Black Hawk Down in back to back months for 2019.

Now we're rolling with this format!

I'll still hang onto my DE disc unless Sony redoes the BD. The current MPEG-2 disc looks terrible compared to the DE disc.

I don't think anyone had a problem with Gladiator's HDR grade in itself, it's more the random DNR that pops up.

Honestly, unless that shit is T2 level--BB Alfred level--I don't have a tendency to spot it as often as you and other users on here.

I was still pretty happy with how Gladiator turned out.

Dammit, I was too busy looking thru Nakamura's twitter feed to post a sarcastic "in b4 someone asks for the extended cut" remark as I meant to do. Ah well, I'll just reserve it for the next movie that had a pointless extended version shat out on Blu-ray just to make a few extra quid.

This goes in my small but annoying pile of "UHDs that came out before I ever got a chance to watch the BD."

I never said it was a disaster or anything, but that fiddling is definitely there. And given how much the intense graininess of BHD is part of the intended aesthetic I think even you may notice if DNR gets deployed on it, that's if you're not otherwise engaged by fapping all over the military hardware they're using

You ain't seen nothing yet.

When this film releases on UHD, I won't shut the **** up about it.

Although, I do have to be the guy that points out the anachronistic weapon modifications in this film. Not to mention the scene where a dude has his EOTech sight on backwards on his rifle. God damn prop masters.

[Show spoiler]I hate that I'm obsessed with military/LE and guns. It's ruined action films forever for me.

Now this is a Blu Ray that really needed an upgrade, even in 1080 rec709.
