And maybe, he doesn't want to cast a Latino character for this? If he was forced for something at this point in his career, he'd let it go. He'd have no issue w/ this. It's GdT at this point in his career. ------- Apparently this is based on a book. Was made into a film w/ Tyrone Power in 1947. Interesting project for GdT. Kind of fun to see him do something out of his norm, if you will. Not what I personally would want from him but I'm game either way, so sure. *still waiting for a Frankenstein film by GdT* |

Reportedly, he was mulling over new scripts from Alejandro González Iñárritu and Paul Thomas Anderson...

wait... a movie titled Nightmare Alley, with Del Toro directing/writing... and it doesn't have any mystic or supernatural aspects?
I was on a high when I read DiCaprio and DelToro...then I stumbled when I read it doesn't involve a genre we expect, then I just fell to uninterested when I read Leo is out ![]() |

and he plays the same damn person in all those other movies. cooper is more engaging. As others have pointed out, he's an overrated pretty boy. Last edited by Synchg; 06-17-2019 at 01:33 AM. |

The story concept is great, it needs two solid actors to convince us, and a first-rate film crew.
"While Fox made a “Nightmare Alley” movie in 1947, this film will be based moreso on the William Lindsay Gresham novel of the same name. The 1947 movie starred Tyrone Power as an ambitious young con-man who teams up with a female psychiatrist who is even more corrupt than he is. At first, they enjoy success fleecing people with their mentalist act, but then she turns the tables on him, out-manipulating the manipulator." Sounds like a delicious interlude from two city professionals teaming up together à la Theranos romance. We know that it won't end up "rosy". Toronto by the way is not my favorite city, but for a corrupt story it would do just fine. And it's cheap, so the film will save some precious dough. Bradley Cooper, to me, is more a comic than an actor, a comedian for comedies. A con-man, he doesn't have the charisma. ...Leo is more con-man actor oriented than Brad, in my overall opinion. Anyway I like the storyline, it fits well with our times and history. ...A mental history. Last edited by LordoftheRings; 06-16-2019 at 06:16 AM. |

I probably would've watched this if DiCaprio was in it, but with Bradley Cooper probably not. I don't like most of the Del Toro films I've seen honestly, but Leo is usually solid. |
