I think that the first post should be amended so that the 1st Academy Awards includes the films for Best Unique and Artistic Picture. Even though the Academy retroactively claimed that Wings was the first Best Picture Winner, at the time its category Outstanding Picture was considered equal to BUAAP in importance. The blu-ray for Sunrise even touts it as having won "Best Picture".

You're right, I had it backwards in my head, the US version is the "director's cut", you have to import international versions to get the theatrical cut.

The link that you show there for THE DRESSER is to the recent remake with Anthony Hopkins and Ian McKellen. The original film is not on blu-ray in the US.
