Was wondering since the blu for Jailhouse Rock came out nearly 15 years ago . Is there anything in the works for a 4k remaster ? I have for some reason either misplaced my bluray or never bought it . I think I'm going kinda Nuts .

I see that its selling for $15 while worth it it's way up then the average price it usually sold at under $10 . Hate to buy it and a new remaster comes out . Next year will be it's 65th year anniversary .

This summer (2021) at Graceland, during Elvis Week, they are having a luau and an outdoor screening of Blue Hawaii to celebrate the 60th anniversary of that film. I'm thinking maybe this means a restoration is coming from Paramount like they did for King Creole followed by a release on Paramount Presents. I don't know but it would seem reasonable. Hope so!!!

That would be great. I think Blue Hawaii is the biggest hole in the catalog at this point, would be great to see that. Hopefully the whole lot ends up on Blu-Ray someday and even a few in 4K. That said, I caught Harum Scarum on TCM recently and feel like that can be slated for 31st.

I found a nice Grey Market Blu at a Street Fair, likely made from a High-Def Streaming copy. It looks pretty good... except the the Incidental and Establishing Shots and Scenes, that look like 16mm Archive Scenes.

I'm wondering if that might be the reason it hasn't been released.

Which Elvis blu-rays do you guys recommend if I'm looking to get one? I see that Hamilton Books has Wild In The Country for a good price, but i'm looking for something entertaining with some good music in it.

In blu-ray, for a fluffy fun romp with music probably Viva Las Vegas. For an edgier role with music IMO Jailhouse Rock. For a darker, more serious role (and maybe his best at acting) with music, I'd go for King Creole.

These might be worth noting:

Japanese release for Flaming Star:

German releases for Follow That Dream, Wild in the Country, Kid Galahad:

Database says that Wild and Kid are Region A friendly.

Two (2) Cents:

Elvis Films come in all "Shapes and Sizes."

For serious Elvis Films: "King Creole" is great. "Wild in the Country" is ok... a little maudlin and nothing like the BR Cover here depicts. "Love Me Tender" is ok. Personally, I dig "Flaming Star."

Then there are the Semi-Serious but "Light-Hearted" films like, "Kid Galahad" (Which I really like)...

And then the much "Liter" flicks like "Viva Las Vegas."

As for the Non Blu-Rays:

"Lovin' You" is great and pretty dang Serious.

"Blue Hawaii" is one of my fave "Later" flicks, that's not out on Blu yet. Same with "Girls, Girls, Girls," "G.I. Blues," "It Happened at the World's Fair" (w/ a cameo by Kurt Russel), "Fun in Acapulco." All fun and Lite but not embarrassing.. yet...

And Teri Garr dances in a few...
