Damn. I think is the very first time in all my years of collecting that I’ve been in a hurry to get a new release and look what happens. How woeful.

Has there been any info on why it’s delayed?

Probably Covid-related.

I'm not surprised. All of Shout's new AIP releases keep getting delayed. How to Make a Monster, Day the World Ended, and The Spider were all pushed a few months.

I caught this on BBC1 in 1996 when I was 10 (yes, BBC1 used to show old AIP movies late at night) and it's remained a firm favourite. The music score is great!

Albert Glasser composed the music for both "Colossal Man" films, as well as "The Cyclops" which seemed to be a dry run for them. The soundtracks are floating around.

Looks like this has been pushed back until November 10th according to Amazon. Dang, I was really excited about this one

Why are we being tortured with further delays of this classic? Do we deserve this delay? I sure don't, I've been on my best behavior since this was announced. But now I'm angrier than Joe Don Baker at the drive-in the 70's and I will never forgive Scream Factory for continually postponing this release. If there is a Scream Factory statue I am so in favor of tearing it down!

It's unacceptable. Outrageous. Unconscionable. It might be time to organize a virtual protest!!

Seriously, how can a movie of this magnitude (no offense, I love this movie dearly) be delayed so many times?

I phoned SCREAM about the delays, and here's a few excerpts from our various conversations:

SCREAM SALES DEPARTMENT: We're proud of the way MGM handled the problem of the Colossal Man. And it was a good job all around.

ME: Well, now that he's being brought to blu-ray, what does SCREAM plan to do about him?

SCREAM: Uh, do about whom?

ME: Why, the giant man..

SCREAM: Oh, as, as far as I know, that matter doesn't come under our jurisdiction. Uh, I was given to understand the Department of Distribution takes over from this point on. There's nothing in our directives about the distribution of a 60-foot giant movie.
Naturally we'll do what was can in a Sales way, but it's impossible for this department to assume the responsibility. Why don't you take this question up with the Shipping and Receiving department?

SCREAM SHIPPING: Yes, the Manning case was referred to us here at Shipping and Receiving, but we found it lay outside the scope of our original abilities. I have an idea it was turned over to Marketing for action during the present session.

SCREAM MARKETING: I can't imagine who told you to call me. The problem isn't one for the Marketing Branch to settle. Uh, why don't you call SCREAM SALES?

I broke down and watched this and The Spider off the old Cult Classics DVD last night. November is too far away to wait

After bugging me to approve one delay after another on my preorder of this Blu, Target sent me a cancellation for it today. That's the third Scream title from Target I bought months ago during a B2G1 sale that has been canceled by Target. Yes, I can get it elsewhere if and when it's ever released, but the Target deal was damn good. I guess there could always be another Target sale sometime when the COLOSSAL BEAST is finally waging his war for real.

I just gave up on approving these -- War..., How To Make A Monster and Day The World Ended.

I had Day and Monster on a B2G1 at Best Buy since last December and BB finally canceled Day over the summer (to be honest I think it's been canceled in general as SF isn't soliciting it anymore).

I know Ballyhoo Films have teased they've done something for Monster, so maybe it's further along.

I am dying to see what extras will be included on this blu. I am really hoping they include It Was a Colossal Teenage Movie Machine: The American International Pictures Story which was on the MSTK Dvd set....

Same thing just happened to me Professor.

It's annoying, but I'm hoping/expecting there will be another B2G1 sale before the year is over. Either closer to release date or shortly after should work.

It's not the first time I've had something canceled after multiple approvals, only to turn around and get it with no fuss it in a subsequent sale.
