Rumor is they want to bring back Yeoh for Discovery Season 4, and have therefore pushed Section 31 down the road further (since they would need to get her character back to the 23rd-24th century time period anyway). I'm kinda hoping they send her back about halfway between where TOS ended (2293 at beginning of Star Trek: Generations) and TNG began (2364). Just park her right in the 2320s. Make it an even 300 years in the future from the year S1 comes out. S1 in 2023? Set it in 2323.

Anson Mount pretty much stole Star Trek Discovery season 2 with his amazing performance as Pike. i am not surprised we are getting a brand new series.

Years ago when I saw Anson Mount connected with tv show, his name sounded familiar, so I looked him up---his father was Anson Mount II, PLAYBOY's football/religion editor.

There is no plan to cancel that one just yet.

Hah, actually, yea on the cursing and (Ultra) violence, i'd be keen to let that fall off the slope, lol

hey we have two shows with that already!!

Heres a video posted to Anson Mount's facebook page. By the sounds of it, the structure will be classic 'optimism and bright future' set up.

And im pretty darned happy about that. this aspect is summed up toward the end by Anson himself.

Can’t believe this! So excited. I absolutely loved Captain Pike in Discovery season 2. He totally stole the show.

So glad they listened to the fans! This is going to be awesome!

So they shelved the one nobody really wanted and greenlit the one everyone wanted. Love it when they understand their audience.

Apparently it's supposed to be more "Trek" than the two actions series put forth recently, but they said the same thing about Picard.

I've wanted a TV show set in the original Star Trek era for decades. I know discovery sort of is but something about it didn't feel like Kirk era, but this show I believe will.
On a side note Rebecca Romijn is 47 years old?!
I bet everyday Jerry O'Connell says, "I feel young."

Couldn't agree more and seeing Pike and crew wearing what was close to those original series uniforms brought a tear to this old dudes eyes. Can't wait for this one. Hit it .....

If they are using all the characters seen in The Cage, then the characters of Doctor Boyce, Yeoman Colt and Lt. Tyler need to be cast.

I hope they are genuine about wanting standalone stories.

I've no issues with arcs, and the lack of consequences really annoyed me in stuff like Voyager, but with 3 live-action shows on the go at once it'll be tiresome if all have big arcs. It'd be nice to have something you can just dip in and out of at leisure again.

I hope we get Boyce, he was an interesting character in the pilot, not fussed about the rest.

I tend to dip in and out of Trek over the decades as i see fit; got the classic series and Enterprise on blu, never a fan of TNG, DS9 or Voyager, (huge fan of Babylon 5) but enjoyed Discovery. Really excited for this series, as getting Trek back to it's roots is no bad thing.

Great news! I love this idea, it will probably beat out Picard for my favorite new Trek show. Too bad about the excruciatingly long wait though.

Can't say I loved Discovery or Picard but this sounds promising. I'll definitely go with an open mind.

“Strange New Worlds will be more stand-alone individual adventures, planet of the week, alien of the week, the way TOS was,” Kurtzman says, adding, “There will, of course, be emotional serialization on Strange New Worlds, but it is going to be a return to form and a return to the classics.”

I want a return to form. I don't want it in the OS timeline. We have already had a show there. Multiple shows. I'd love to see something 4-5 years after Nemesis. Or something else in the same time as Picard. Stop the dang prequels.

I wasn't impressed with any of the crew in Discovery for this and I for one don't want to see a bunch of characters that literally have already completed their growth and their arcs. Just don't care. And they can burn in hell for the redesign of the Enterprise. I'm not watching that crap every week.

I didn't think Discovery was amazing or anything but I do like it, so I'll probably check this out eventually. Can't be as boring/pointless as Picard was....
