It’ll be a December 2023 to March 2024 release, the official timeframe they said was ‘Next Winter’ after saying ‘This Winter’ for Crisis Core.

During an interview with Japanese publication Gamer, Rebirth producer Kitase claimed there were several factors involved in the decision not to release the game for PS4.

"It's exclusive to PlayStation 5 because of the graphical quality, of course, as well as SSD access speed," he said (translated by Gematsu).

"Since the adventure unfolds in a vast world after the escape from Midgar, loading stress is an extreme bottleneck. We felt we needed the specifications of PlayStation 5 to overcome that and travel the world comfortably."

About time we see some next gen (current gen) exclusives without last gen holding them back. Imagine how much better games like GT7 and Horizon could be without having been on PS4.

Nothing is confirmed but I feel like we'll get news on Rebirth during this presentation. Cody Christian doesn't typically attend things like this.

They just tweeted this out moments ago.

“Question - How is development progressing on FF7 Rebirth?

Answer - Development is progressing smoothly and according to plan. We are currently working on nailing down a release date for the game.”

Hard hitting stuff.

Whew boy that's some incredible journalism from SE there my friend! I get right now everything is focused on XVI but we should get a trailer or something soon.

I thought I read somewhere that this one would start to adjust the locations some IE we might start at Nibelhiem and get the Tifa Cloud dream sequence out of the way.

With 16 finished I imagine a lot of that team will transfer to rebirth. Depending on how far they go into the story this might not even make '24.

Has this been confirmed 3 titles or is that still nebulous?

Square-Enix! Winter 2023 when it got announced. Winter ends in Feb… up to 8 months from now last I checked.

Being out in up to 8 months and saying it will be out in 8 months are kind of different. Oh well, no big deal.

Hopefully it is out within that time frame. While it'll easily be my most anticipated game whenever the first true trailer drops and we get a better idea of when it will actually come out, I'm perfectly fine with it being early 2024 if need be given how much will likely be out late this year.
