MUBI Releases on Blu-ray and DVD

The Other Lamb has been released on Blu Ray in the US, though I suspect it will be region A locked. I'm waiting to receive my copy.

It got released on their streaming service in the last couple of days so I reckon it'll likely be within in a month or two.

Ema was released on June 29th on BD, and on 1st May on the streaming service last year, Matthias and Maxime was late August on streaming, mid Oct on BD.

I have loads to catch up on - I really want Bacurau and Ema especially, but waiting til they're £10-ish like Suspiria and Under the Silver Lake. Will also probably blind-buy Beanpole, On Body and Soul and Beginning eventually as well. Was unsure about Border but will get at the right price too.

I've bought them all so far as I'm keen for them to keep releasing stuff on disc (and the alternative is importing from the US which got a ton more expensive recently!).

Zoom has Ema and Bacurau for £12 and A Dog Called Money for £11 - with the 10% off signup (if you have a disposable email or use the gmail +1 trick) that's pretty decent. Beanpole is £13 there as well which is a little cheaper than elsewhere

Haven’t watched Beginning yet, mainly due to how daunting that runtime is.

I actually think Border might be your favourite out the bunch, really peculiar but very engrossing and entertaining. But I think almost all MUBI disc output has be strong as far as the films have been concerned.

Beginning is about 2 hours long. I thought it was going to be 160 minutes until I saw there was a q&a tacked on at the end.

Watched Beginning earlier and for me it was like watching someone trying a bit too hard to make an arthouse film. Imo a bit pretentious and it also didn't help when it's supposedly set in a Jehovah's Witness community but was filled with inaccuracies. Why would a director want to set it in a specific community and then not be accurate in it's portrayal? Someone not familiar won't be bothered by that of course. Safe to say I won't be watching it again.

Could MUBI do a release of the Yuzo Kawashima films? Or am I mixing the situation up, do they only have streaming rights for those?

Anyway, would love a boxset of his films. They really deserve more attention, as they're so much different from other Japanese films of that time, at least from what I'm accustomed to seeing.

I'd also like them to release Queen of Hearts on Blu Ray. The US DVD is very good but I would prefer a Blu Ray.

It's my major gap with her, and I'm not sure I could live with the long OOP DVD when there's a HD master (I think so anyway)

Limbo is a Focus Features title in the US (released today), but a MUBI title in the UK (released in cinemas in July.) It's possible that even if MUBI don't do a UK Blu-ray, Universal could do one in the US. However, the number of Focus (and also NEON) titles they've limited to DVD or VOD only means this definitely isn't guaranteed.

Following its cinema release on May 28th, First Cow just arrived on the MUBI platform today (one of the first films to use an abbreviated window). It arrives on Blu-ray in a month's time, with a making of featurette.
