I keep speakers for decades, and have a set of LDL's (a Bose 901 knockoff, Bose sued them and they stopped building them) from 1975. They're just bulletproof. The perfect midrange speaker. Once you get a good set, you'll hang on to them - if you selected them for sound quality. Build quality gives them longevity, so it's worth the money to buy the best you can get. Good luck, and don't get anything you don't like listening to! |

There are no recommendations of what sub with what Fronts/rear/center, the only thing that is universal is the Fronts must match the Center to get a consistent sound-stage. Nobody on here, except YOU can tell you what sub will go best with whatever speakers you're looking at.
Here's why: Everyone has different tastes and listening styles, and preferences. The room your putting your equipment in is different than everyone else's here..... even natural accoustical benefits/hinderances are different..... you might have pillows and plants that offer good natural bass traps, you might have carpet, you might not..... etc. The only way to tell what speakers are better than others (it's not price).... You must AUDITION SPEAKERS..... same goes with receivers. If you get a home theater package (I'd stay away from packages as you can get more bang from your buck elsewhere) without a sub..... audition a few subs IN YOUR HOME, and choose which one workds the best for your needs. good luck, |

I am definitely thinking about the Klipsch Quintet II's with the matching subwoofer for about $600.
My question is: has anybody heard a discernible difference between the Quintet IIs and the Quintet IIIs which are $200 more. The only difference I can see is peak wattage, but my receiver is the Onkyo 605 which outputs 90 Watts per channel max. Should I just get the IIs, or is it really worth jumping for the IIIs? Thanks for the help! ![]() |

based on the function of a sub, soundstage matching isn't very important at all, so any sub that fits your budget, power/size requirements will work. good luck. |
