I have a D-VHS player and I still use it.It's sitting underneath my Samsung Blu-Ray player. Best VCR that I have ever bought.

The DF-480 tape has the same storage as a BD50. Even D-VHS was superior to hd-dvd. Maybe that's what all the Sony haters can go to, when hd-dvd is finally completely dead.

D-VHS is definitely a niche format, but the quality is first-rate, nonetheless. It's recording capacity is based on whether you are recording SD or HD, and it is backward-compatible with VHS and S-VHS tapes.

If you are an early, early HD adopter, then you would most likely have this format in your arsenal. It's the only VCR still in my rack, and I still use it for OTA recordings in HD.

I haven't owned a vcr in a decade I didn't start recording again until i got a dvr through the cable company. I adopted Dvd really early. I just now have heard of Dvhs and I was floored that they can do 1080i on a vhs tape.

As I remember it, D-VHS only used MPEG-2 and had a bitrate of 28 mbps.

It looked pretty darn good!
