Default Warner Home Video is expected to announce in January support for only one HD format

Found this on home cinema choice UK website!!!

"Warner Home Video is expected to announce in January support for only one HD format – thus ending the 18 months of format neutrality which has seen many titles, including 300 and Superman Returns, released on both Blu-ray and HD DVD. Of course, no-one is certain yet which format the movie studio is likely to back at its press conference at the Consumer Electronics Show 2008, in Las Vegas"

Eh...it sounds like more speculation than anything. No source was cited, no wording of, "sources at Warner Brothers tell us...", nothing of the sort. I wouldn't buy into that article.

Anticipation is the greatest pleasure
Sure, it's high likely that Warner will only announce the mia titles, but hey it's so much fun just to talk about this topic

HCC is a good read here in the UK, i find them to be good. Some excellent articles in it too....proper journo stuff, none of this 'my friend who cleans toilets in starbucks next to warners overheard her neighbours pizza delivery boy say that hddvd yields are low and amir says so too so it must be right' type journolism

I think the speculation can subside for a while until an official announcement is made. I'm excited like the rest of you but beating this topic to death isn't going to make an announcement fall out of the sky. There are countless threads about this supposed rumor. Nonetheless, thanks for the link.

Here we go again with yet another Warner thread on their possible switch to exclusivity. It's about time they go Blu exclusive so that we can get back to our lives

I sadly would be shocked if we heard anything from Warner at CES. Seems that now they want to wait out all of January (and maybe into February) to see how all those Christmas presents are used. Honestly, if Blu-ray has led ALL YEAR at 2:1 and even pushing 3:1 at times, how is that not enough proof already??

I don't think Warner really wants to wait and see how sales do... well maybe a little, but mostly they just want to cash in on the holiday sales before announcing blu exclusivity. They like money, can't really blame them.

All these articles keep branching from back when warner said they would reasses their stance after they seen the numbers after the new year. Then the rumors and FUD have turned it into a whole different monster.
