Here's hoping the special features being moved over to one disc will be in the correct frame rate

I just hope for at least the "theatrical cut" disc that Kino will fix the botched gamma and the playback issue of the extras.

Well, guess I can remove Kino's standard Blu version from my end of year sale cart.

My excitement just dropped. Not interested in half ass cash grabs. unless the color grading was done from raw scratch and not tweeks on top of an incorrect color grading then I'm passing.

I’ll be waiting even longer now for Kino to lose the rights to this film so that another label can do it proper justice. In the meanwhile, I’ll continue resorting to fan restorations.

Which fan restoration do you recommend?

Agreed, also Idgaf about the extended cut. I’d rather have the theatrical cut on uhd

I am happy at least to get the bonus features in proper frame-rate. I do wish the gamma was improved on for the US Theatrical Cut. Not sure if that was an authoring error or a part of the color correction they did in 2017.

I'll wait for a review but I do that on almost all the third-party titles I purchase.

UHD without HDR is a thing?! Uhm, if I may be so bold to ask, WHY??!!
Or is this actually not a big deal?

No HDR is less of a big deal to me than only the extended being on 4k. Like... Why?? Would anyone actually prefer that to the theatrical??

Well, to me at least, the arguments for would include: 1.) higher spatial resolution, thus much better capturing and rendering of film grain; 2.) newer, more efficient video codec.

Now, I am not overly familiar with what the grain structure could/should look like on a Techniscope negative, so someone with more knowledge can weigh in, hopefully. But looking at something like the screen caps on Blade Runner and The Matrix, you can definitely see much, much better film grain on the UHD caps, HDR notwithstanding. Again, I realize those are not shot in the same format, but I use them because the differences are both apparent and immediate.
