It’s the Jason Takes Manhattan mask, minus the gash on top.

It probably has something to do with Warner Bros owning the series / Jason currently. Paramount can still use stuff from A New Beginning.

Thumbs down And people say Paramount is "ashamed" of F13....

Pfft. Why is Paramount so high on milking this series right now, while the SF box set is in print and widely available? Individual Steelbooks, new 8-film collection set, 8-film Steelbook; it's all a bunch of redundant crap. Just keep the previous ~$20 8-film set in print as a cheap alternative to the SF. No reason to issue anything new until the SF has run its course.

Jason is not a cow. Why are they milking him so much?
Only thing more horrid than Jason is the artwork on this steelbook.

Lines that I could see making it into a future iteration of the franchise:

...

WHACK!

At least we know which 2 movies they are excluding. And yet again, more stacked discs. Scanvo must really hate discs.

Im pretty sure Paramount still has the full video rights to 1-8, and that has been the case for almost all the time they sold the Jason character to New Line. (except for a year or two in which they licensed out several of their titles to Warner Bros.)

Agreed, it does seem odd for Paramount to be doing this while the Shout set is still in print. I think everybody was surprised when that Paramount amaray set was announced a month ago. But it's a great thing for me because I love steelbooks, I hate the New Line films, and I dislike the Shout artwork.

It's starting to grow on me, although I still think it is very imperfect and I wish they had not used Roy on the back. But I think a lot of people would agree that is at least a more improved version of part 8 Jason on the cover. Jason doesnt look slimy and his mask isnt yellow. Still hate the inside art though.

How the heck do you stack 3 discs in a steelbook? is the steelbook a standard one or are there bigger versions, after all if it also holds cards it can't be standard?

The cylinder that the discs latch onto is taller than that of a regular steelbook, but still just short enough for the steelbook to be able to close securely. But the steelbook is the exact same size

Ok, but then I would think they would make the spindles lock into one-another when closing the steelbook, leaving no room for the cards to be added, or do you know if they are not interlocking?
I see this not being listed in Europe so I might get it if it's not too expensive because I love the design.

It might have them on the outside of the steel inside the wrapper. The steelbook is also available in France and the UK.

Thank you! Amazed that amazon allows me to pre-order this out of France.
Done! Now I'll just keep an eye out for Italian or German amazons, as there is still the risk that they will produce a French version with the infamous upside down spine ,)

Because when you can’t release a new film due to court lawsuits, the only choice they have left is to constantly repackage and release their original eight movies.

They'd actually make more, if they spread these things out, instead of all at once.

It’s always the same shit in a different package. Scream’s release is the most complete and definitive set. Everything that comes after it is moot. That is until Paramount starts releasing UHDs.

That's my point. Unless UHDs are right around the corner (and we have no indication that they are), this sudden blitz makes no sense.

Hope they keep with the individual steelbooks. Not a fan of this 8 film one.
