I'm sure that's a bootleg given how Spain is full of them, and because it's not locked to Region B.

That, and the distinct lack of any kind of reference to the disc's distributor on the cover.

Yeah, how many discs from Spain actually print the title of the movie on the spine starting from the bottom-up?

I've never seen this, and I've heard a whole hell of a lot about it. The extras, with the workprint, make me wanna blind buy it. I can always pop it straight on eBay after going through the disc.

Hey guys, I already have the UK release for this one. Does anyone know if this version is any different to that?

The video encode will be different (but the same master, presumably). The only meaningful difference is Umbrella's inclusion of the workprint edition with deleted scenes.

Does anyone know if the original cut of this movies film reels still exist because I think it would be a shame if all that remains of it is in a awful vhs tape state.

They didn't fix it! Must have been printed from their draft folder.

1) Since it wasn't the final cut, it's doubtful there is a conformed print. That workprint would've been chopped and changed on the Steenbeck. Most of the excised stuff would've just gone into the bin. Even if there was a full print, it would only be from dupes which are pretty rough and difficult to tidy up. See the extended cut of The Blues Brothers.

2) The o-neg of the excised scenes probably lives in a vault somewhere. However, the condition is a big question mark - it might have deteriorated if not stored properly. Restoring those scenes means going back to the o-neg, scanning it all in, cleaning it up, and actually editing everything. Very costly for a movie that not many people actually like.

I know but then again there are other films that have a small audience that get a really good treatment so who know but yeah your right.

What’s the likelihood of this being region free? Case says Region B, but a few US retailers
Have it listed as Region 0. If memory serves me right, I’ve got a few Umbrella titles that said they were B but ended up being able to work on Region A players.

It's likely to be region-free going by Umbrella's track record for the last few years. I can't even remember the last locked disc they released, probably the "Beyond Genres" reissue of Re-Animator and that was just a straight repress of the 2015 disc with different artwork. Pretty much all their back cover specs say B only and 99% of their discs in the last few years are region free so the back covers are definitely not reliable.

I just wanted to chime in and say that I tested this release on my Laser region switchable Blu-ray player and the disc appears to be region free. I even tested several other known locked discs to make sure my player was behaving correctly, as another poster claimed it was region B locked.

BenjaminG, what gives? How did you test for region?

DVDCompare also reports:

Notes:Packaging mistakenly states region B only.

If I'm wrong - that's great news. I opened the disc with DVDFab and it prompted me to input the region code. Normally a region free disc just won't do that, because there's no code.

So if this is correct, then it truly is Region Free! Then I shall have to order it!
