It's always been on my radar since it was revealed last year in another State of Play. Now to see it return like this and Sony pick it up as a 2nd party title continues to have me excited for the game. I had been randomly wondering what happened to Project Eve a few days ago, and now it's part of the recent State of Play.
Project Eve was my game of the show then, and the game now known as Stellar Blade was my game of this show. I'm one of the few people in the world that isn't counting down the days to a certain game starring a certain bald man and his son. |

It looks promising.
If Stellar Blade's team can refine the blocking to look more connected to the onscreen monster attacks, that will be a good thing based on an older video of her fighting a big monster. Her attacks look good. Visuals look great and hopefully show off the PS5. |

The PS video trailer was called a “Pre-Order” trailer.. yet after watching it, there was no price in the PS Store. I didn’t count the outfits that were in the trailer but did pause to see if the first shown original outfit was there? Yep. It was shown for all of 0.8 milliseconds. ![]() |

The State of Play did make me more excited for this. Looks like it’s gonna be all kinds of weird, but I like that. I’ll be buying Banishers in February, Alone in the Dark in March, so this might be what I pick up in April.

I remember for awhile there, Project Eve/Stellar blade was a solo indie project without a publisher, but it said before the State of Play, SCEA Sony Entertainment Presents, suggesting that Sony picked up this game and will be publishing it along with the game's promotional advertising, which will give it a good sales boost.
I think it would've done well without that, if the game is good underneath the surface. Is the main woman's name Eve? I think that was the name I heard in the trailer. That surface desert area looks interesting. I think the game mentioned there is some kind of hub, and you can get stuff upgraded, like a double jump, etc. Sometimes those things are just presented as "freedom" but are necessary parts of progressing through a linear style game. Will be interesting to see how the game is presented in terms of genre. Action, but can you walk wherever you want in the underground areas? I'm going to think Action-Linear with some open areas of the map. Looks good overall. I hope they really fine tuned the combat against bosses to be more grounded and reactive, so it doesn't look like the enemy's sword is slicing through the player, even though she's blocking as in the earlier videos years ago. |

I'm going to be a slight negative Nancy here, but is it me or does the main character not just look like the most bland and generic "create a character" model? It literally seems like all the first 2 supporting cast had more substance to them with their design showing pores, facial animations and personality even. The main character just looks like a porcelain rendition of an East Asian beauty standard walking around like an AI doll that didn't get a facial expression software update and a permanent Snow filter on her face blurring face pores, texture etc.
Also, the gameplay looks suitable PS3 gen alongside the way the majority of the graphics i saw. Perhaps it's a smaller studio but with how good games can look using Unreal Engine 5 for example, i wasn't impressed visually with this showing at places. I hope the story and gameplay are the real meat and potatoes where things are right, because i still despite those above criticisms want to play it on a discount deal. |

My main concern is the difficulty level, and then the hit collision animations of the enemies. In the early gameplay, a monster is swiping its claws at her, she's blocking, but the claws go right through her as if she was invisible, but she's not. I would expect the claws to stop when they contact her blade, but they go right through it. If that happened, that monster wouldn't have any claws left; sliced off. Hopefully they fine tuned it for better interaction hit animations. |
