Thank you Ken.....helpful answer. How did you get in touch with them?? Was address or e mail included with the head set? And how long did it take to get the lenses?
I haven't purchased mine yet, but depending on your answers i may get them soon. |

Hey Ken, Very much appreciated your answer so quickly.
A couple of questions: Were they difficult to attach to a blu ray machine? (if you used them with one) Do you still use them? |

![]() You can connect it directly to a blu ray player. But the blu ray player should have volume control, as the Goovis doesn't have any volume control as far as I remember. Haven't really used it in some years and packed down somewhere in apartment. Also it has some built-in power save mode that's kind of annoying. Every time you take the headset off your head, it automatically turns off even if still connected to a player. So when you put on the headset again, sometimes it does not detect that a player is connected and remains black screen even though the power turns back on for the headset. So either you have to take the headset off and put on your face again, and hope that it detects the second time, or third, fourth times, etc. Or you have to unplug the headset from the player and reattach it, powering it up again, then you get the picture back. It's annoying if you just plan to take the headset off for few seconds to wipe the lense or similar, and not sure if you should do it..if it's a hassle to get the picture back, if you get what I mean :P The reason I rarely use it nowadays is because of the screen size. The screen isn't really that big, even though the resolution and colour is sharp and good. If you start watching virtual theater in headsets like Oculus Quest 2, you will soon realize how small the Goovis screen is. But still it's a fine device for getting ok mid-size screen with true HD resolution. And I get to take off my glasses when using it also. And another thing, if you have astigmatism and don't get the extra lenses, you will also get sharp picture with the built-in adjustment, although you will probably feel unbalanced with the sight and get headache after a while...at least it happened to me. The good thing about it obviously is the ability to watch 3D frame pack blu-rays right off the disk via blu ray player. With Oculus Quest 2 I would have to do extra work with my 3D blu rays. Hopefully there will be a device in the future that takes the best of both headsets and merge it into one with wider FOV, that's the future of real home theatre in my opinion ![]() Last edited by Ken81; 09-21-2022 at 08:49 AM. |

Hey Ken, thanks much for thoroughly answering the questions. I appreciate the time that it took to answer them.
The glasses sound like my only option now....if anything ever happened to my 3D TV. Basicly i just want to be able to turn the things on and enjoy a movie....like using a tv i guess. I don't have the desire to fumble with a computer, etc just to watch. At my tender age,,,i don't want to get into altering the living room to watch my 3D. Again....thank you. |

It's me......again.....still looking into the Goovis Pro and more and more they are looking like something i will use. (Still checking with Goovis to see if they can adjust for my astigmatism.)
Question: When the Goovis Pro is hooked up to a BLU RAY machine, and an audio headset is used for sound, must the headset have a volume control, if we wish to control the volume? Thank you. |

I have been using GOOVIS PRO for about a month now. Certainly gives a sharp picture and the "size" of the image is very satisfying.
Really appreciate the 3D! Not too sure that the pop out is as wonderful as using a projection screen, but depth is great. There is pop out.....but may not the same as a screen. Really enjoy that the rest of the room does not have to be in darkness....but i can still enjoy the movie. |

That's an interesting question lol
Short answer: Not exactly. Long answer: First you need to connect to a PC, then have the software to be able to play native 3D on your PC. Then have the VR software to relay the screen back to your HMD. This is the way I have been doing it for the last couple of years, but recently I've been converting them to x265 Top/Bottom to save disc space. Anyway, once converted there are many options for watching them in VR (including some free VR software) directly without the use of a PC. Hope this helps. Yup.....the glasses are nice. Just connect a usb and hdmi to the glasses; a headset to the audio out of the glasses and you can watch 3D with a great picture and 3D effects. I guess what i like the most is i don't have to understand and learn a lot of tech stuff ( i am easing out of my 70's) i just enjoy. Regular movies are great on these things as well. No dark room or worrying about the volume bothering my wife.
