Shame this won't screen in IMAX 3D in the US, but at least it snagged a few premium 3D formats. Many Cinemark XD's have 1 3D showtime a day, while most AMC Prime locations are screening it in 3D all day. Between the two I'm doing Prime 3D. It's basically the same as Dolby Cinema (Dolby Atmos sound, Buttkicker recliners) with a less fancy but still premium projector.

I'm relieved 3D's finally available again in premium formats that aren't 4DX. 4DX is fun but the location near me has very unreliable projection.

I just hope, at least this one, gets a 3D bluray release to finish the Spider-Man 3D films. But after Venom Let There Be No 3D, who knows anymore.

IMAX head office has already told us there will not be any 3D releases until at-least 4th quarter 2022.

Unlike real d glasses which are given out prepackaged, imax 3D glasses are simply washed and reused on site, and imax is aware of the optics of how that looks to the public while the pandemic is still raging.

I think we got a lucky break with the Japanese 3D releases for the Disney/Marvel films (now that $80 movies with non-US subtitles is in fact "lucky"). Being a Sony release, especially in light of the non-3D Carnage options I'd guess the chances of getting this on 3D blu-ray right away is depressingly low. If I had to put a percent on it I'd go low/mid single digits.

That said, I'm somewhat optimistic that Random Space Media may be able to deliver a 3D release in the not-too-distant future. Whatever Jumanji brought in will likely pale in comparison to Carnage and even more so Spider-Man, so I think there's enough meat on those bones to make it worth their while to get both of these out.

This is a joint venture between marvel(disney) and sony. Far From Home if it were just a sony movie it would have been only in 2D/4K blus to payback the break relations they had but it was released in 3D. Let's hope Marvel makes a push to them release it in 3D.

Glad to hear that Tobey Maguire, the first Spider-Man in the movies will make an appearance from what I read in this film. Willem DaFoe as the Green Goblin should be great too. Doc Oc as well.
I just hope the whole story doesn't hinge of a really bad decision made by the heroes, but it seems like it's pointing that way. Heroes making dumb choices and then having to fix it, not the greatest story line when wanting to root for the hero.

As far as the 3D, hopefully this is solid medium to strong 3D like from the prior two Spider-Man 3D films.

Really hoping this is more of an adventure film as it seems to be, than a soap opera high school drama as the last film Far From Home felt like when I saw it in 3D theaters. At least the 3D was strong in that one.

I still don't get the title of FFH. Spiderman died on an alien planet across the galaxy, but central Europe is "far from home"? But I learned my lesson from that one: Spiderman is to be seen in 3D or it isn't to be seen at all.

Will this wind up being a live action version of Enter the Spiderverse? That's the impression that I get from the trailer.

I would say Europe is definitely far from America. The title makes perfect sense to me. If the movie had been set in a different planet then maybe they could have called it ‘Really Far From Home’ - but it wasn’t. I also don’t think going into space once or twice means you stop thinking a few thousand miles is a long way away lol

Very pleased that my local Cineworld IMAX screen (which is 4K Laser) will be showing No Way Home in 3D. I now have a ticket for opening day.

I think trying to accommodate the word "home" into every title is rather tiresome and would much prefer if they went with more unique naming for the Spider-Man films.

This is one I will definitely see theatrically though, it will be horrible if/when all we end up with on Blu-ray is a lame flat release.

The whole "Home" schtick with the Spidey titles is probably not appreciated by people as much as Sony probably thinks it is.

But I don't care what the title is, just give me a fun movie and I'm happy!

Especially since Spider-Man Peter Parker is rarely in his home in any of these movies anyway. Or they could just mean home being New York City.

Spider-Man Homecoming, Far From Home, No Way Home. The fourth film might be called, Spider-Man: No Place like Home.

It's interesting that the new theme is throwing in all of th
[Show spoiler]e past versions of the characters with not only Spiderverse (animated film), No Way Home, but also DC's The Flash with the multiple Batmans.
The timing of it and all seems a little weird...

That's true, a different planet, "Far Far Away From Home" could be the new title, and then they could merge Marvel with Star Wars since they're both under Disney.

On the topic of 3D, I have to research who is the conversion team here.

Can we please use spoiler tags for anything that pertains to story/plot details?

Many folks would like to stay spoiler-free, some are even avoiding the trailers.

There is also a SPOILERS thread for those who want to talk about the film without using spoiler tags.

Thanks!

Stereo D is doing the 3D conversion for this film.

Is there a link to where they said this? I was curious as my local AMC back prior to the pandemic would do IMAX 3D showings once a day and they never actually listed them online until about 2 weeks prior to the first showings. I'm wondering if they will do the same with this release. I may just purchase normal IMAX tickets now and wait and see.

Is that a spoiler? I spoil tagged it, but I thought it was common knowledge for those who have seen the trailers will know the situation.

Have you watched the trailers?

OK, just to clear up any potential misunderstanding, I did not read through the whole paragraph when it was still not tagged for spoilers because it seemed to have some mention of things you would know if you have seen the trailers, but that you might still not want to have spoiled if you haven't.

I see that you have edited the paragraph in question with a spoiler tag - thanks for doing that, I'm not sure exactly what it said but I did get a glimpse of some words that might be spoilerish to some. And then I just adverted my eyes from the rest.

And yes I have watched the trailers but as I said earlier some folks don't even want to know what is shown in the trailers.

Once this hits cinemas we need to start mass emailing Sony home entertainment again to at least give us a tiny chance of seeing this on disc. It would be TRAGIC to not get this movie on 3D Blu-ray.
