I don't see any reason for the "sky is falling" mentality. Spielberg isn't gonna lose his shirt if this bombs. Disney isn't going to file for bankruptcy if it doesn't do so well. Everyone associated with it is pretty well off and will continue to be.
It is better to have tried and failed than never to have tried at all. I'm sure everyone gave it their all. ![]() |

I am boycotting this, remake steven spielberg, I refuse to pay to see this in a deafening odeon isense atmos for over two hours, spielburg can keep it.
It won't be a box office it be a flop cos people are fed up with remakes and it has lens flares in it and that is another reason to boycott cos I don't never had liked his new DP and all that lens flare is annoying. I rather watch and listen to the original with directional dialog panning. Also have it on DVD. I was about to rush out and see a 4k of it at cinema late night in smaller screen last month but couldn't make it in time and its only just a movie. I doubt the 4k was any good and may have had remix on the directional dialog and the cinema isn't capable of playing five screen wide. Nah, I watch it home in THX. |

Yeah, looked at Memphis again just now. Just after the 7 to 7:15 start times, ten screens have sold a total of 52 tickets and two screens are completely empty. 52 tickets for opening night wouldn't even be a good total for one screen, let alone TEN theaters. Bombing hard here.

Maybe where you live. Thursdays are usually busy around here. Everybody knows "opening Friday" actually means "opening Thursday night", and everybody wants to see the new movies early. Last preview showing this empty was Blade Runner 2049, there were 5 people in my screening.

But even that's not true anymore since critics screenings and advance screenings are spoiling everything online now. |
