As far as the movie itself, felt it was underwhelming. Mildly funny. Nodded off a bit in the middle as it got boring. Pretty good gore if that's your bag. |

I have yet to see the trailer for X at my Marcus Theatre. It appears it's going pretty wide but maybe this location won't get it. Hopefully they do. They do have it listed under coming soon and there are Thursday shows for a bunch of locations. I hope the trailer is with this. They've had opportunities to advertise it. Scream would have been perfect to attach that trailer to. But I didn't have it with that or The Cursed.

A fun horror comedy with some nice gore in it.
For those who seen the movie. There is one scene that will make Leatherface cream his pants. and I'm honestly surprised they got away with it due to what is shown on screen. This is a fun throw back to when bands were in movies as themselves. If one issue with the film. Its a bit long at nearly 110 mins. But like i said. if you are a fan of the band and horror movie. You should enjoy it. 3.5/5 |

I really enjoyed it. I'd give it a B+. It has some legitimately funny moments and the gore is amazing. Biggest flaw is that the ending feels abrupt and unsatisfying. Movie really gave me some Evil Dead 2 vibes and I'm here for it. Would recommend to any horror fan who is into Gorey supernatural horror and/or Foo Fighters fans.

Is this movie as gore focused as Evil Dead 2013 was?
Or is it more sprinkled in? |

Is there any gore left to show? I'm hoping there's more to the barbecue, woodchipper and eye bits than the snippets that were shown in the trailer... |

Definitely curious about this one. I love me some Dave Grohl and Foo Fighters. Surprisingly, this has more showings in my area than a couple other bigger named movies.

I saw it last night. It's okay. There's definitely some fun to be had, with some cool practical FX. But it needs more. I agree with the common complaint here, that it's overlong. It starts to drag in the middle. It needs to be cut down to a tight 90 minutes. Or, have a third act that really kicks it up a notch, and goes into Evil Dead 2-levels of craziness.
I'm not a diehard Foo Fighters fan. I'm only familiar with their radio hits. There may have been references and Easter eggs that I missed. I didn't know going in, that John Carpenter and Co. did music for it. And Mr. C. even has a cameo! Also, I usually don't notice this stuff, but there is a lot of product placement. Most shots have a recognizable snack or drink in them. Doritos should have sponsored a big Dead Alive-type blowout at the end. |

It's better at the comedy than it is at the horror, i.e. it's funnier than it is scary. Trouble is the funny stuff is quite sporadic. The various nods to horror films are fun, if rather laboured in the case of all the Evil Dead stuff, and the score is of a similarly referential bent, echoing several different films. One for Foo fans only.

Only getting a DVD release in Australia it seems.
America is getting a Bluray + DVD combo which is a bit weird for R18+ audience, we moved on from DVD players long ago |

If that’s so, then the US Blu-ray will probably be distributed by Universal Pictures Home Entertainment/Studio Distribution Services due to a physical/digital media distribution deal with US distributors Open Road Films and Briarcliff Entertainment. That’s good, since Universal releases stellar Blu-ray titles most of the time. Internationally, Sony has rights, if I’m correct. The article got it wrong saying that Sony is distributing the film in the US. If there’s only a DVD release in Australia, it’s pretty obvious the film bombed at the box office. I fell in love with this film when I saw it in theaters. To be honest, I hope a 4K will exist (I mean, the film has the Foo Fighters) but it probably won’t be there, probably digitally. I’m hopeful for a Dolby Atmos track on the Blu-ray as well. |
